Today I picked up the latest issue of the Dutch Xbox magazine which features a small article on Deception. (no new info btw). But is does mention its release date for “fall 2004” too. This is the same as in the US so it could mean that this time they will release the PAL version at the same time as the NTSC version (or short after) which would be good news for us European PAL owners.

I remember with MKDA we had to wait for almost 4 month before the PAL version was released. I hope they won’t let us suffer again.

PAL Is the European version.

It says on game.uk.com that Its out on November 5th for X-Box and just says Q4 2004 for the PS2 version.

Game are usually very accurate

PAL is just a standard for games here in Europe and will only play on European consoles. This way we can’t import the game from the US because those are coded NTSC and won’t play on our European consoles. The game itself will be the same. You can compare it a bit with regions of a DVD disk.

Why don't you get a Freeloader?? Or a Action Replay with Freeloader technology? Then just Import the NTSC version? Thats what I do grin

Short Ansewr:
Well, PAL is the system used in Europe for TV and NTSC is the system used in North America and other countries. Japan has another system. The differences are in color, fram rates and the frequency each mode works. Both have advantages and disadvantages. If you want to know more just do a search in the internet and you'll find a lot of things in this subject. As they have to reconvert all of these things it will take a bit longer to release the game in Europe.

Long Answer: I not in the mood to type it. I am studying to a Distributed systems test.

For the original question: My hopes are they release at the same time. The reality is likely to be alot different and i suppose in good chances that a month later we'll see the DVD in our system. Unless they're doing at the same time both versions i doubt we will get it at the same time.

By the way. You could play the game in native NTSC. Just get a RGB cable and buy the game in a country who have the NTSC system. I hope this helps.

Edited: People can play NTSC games in PAL system without 'nothing to reconvert it' BUT will have only black and white for the colours.

So it says November 5th, well this Dutch magazine does not have an exact date yet It just says “fall”. I believe the US release was planned on October 10th so I guess we can wait one month, that’s way better then four.

A freeloader really, that sounds interesting. On what console do you use that, I’m gonna get Deception for the Xbox.

So all I need to do is use an RGB cable and I can play NTCS games right? There is nothing else I need to do for it, except of course get the NTSC version of the game.

Yes, i think you can if the cable is good. But you still have the problems of differences betewwn the two systems. The cable only resolves the colour problem (but i think not perfectly). The best cables are expensive.

But i don't know much about this solution. I never used it.

This isn't true.

Most TV's have support for both NTSC & PAL now, but it doesn't mean the games will work with a simple change of audio/video cable.

It's the XBOX/PS2 console itself that doesn't allow the games to work. The console requires a MOD chip to play imported games or with other regions set on them.

The most notable difference between PAL & NTSC is the speed of the game itself. NTSC games are usually much faster than the PAL counterpart.

You will really notice a difference particularly in driving games, where laptimes on the same game but different output systems can be different quite significantly. But in games such as MK and other fighters the moves and overall speed of the characters are slightly faster in NTSC as well.

The graphics are not any different, it's just the speed.

You're wright about televisions that have both NTSC and PAL support. But i have NTSC films and the colour is black and white because the colour isn't produced the same way. With a corrected color cable (RGB) you could fix this.

OK, if the TV supports both NTSC & PAL then you usually would not need a converter or special cable of anykind to change the signal to the appropriate signal required.

But this does not change the fact that a NTSC video game will work on a PAL console. It is similar to the DVD region encoding as someone suggested earlier in this thread.

The country lock-out system employed in video game consoles such as Playstation 2 and Xbox makes it impossible to play games that were not intended for your country. This is highly inconvenient for some gamers who want to purchase games from other countries, either because they are released there sooner or they are not released in other regions at all.

The only way around this is by installing a MOD chip. These may be illegal in some countries and will void the warranty on your system.

Also Xbox Live! will ban your system from the network if it detects the mod chips.

Yes, but i have a PAL only television. Because of that it will not show correctly the film. But i have a friend with a TV like mine and a Playstation and he sees the film with the RGB cable.

I don't know. I thought it would be the cable who is doing the colour conversion. If not than i am wrong. Thanks anyway.
