I hope MK7 has more new characters like 80% b/c in MKD there is only Ashrah, Kira, Hotaru, ben/kobra(?), and Skab, I think MKD is more about the old characters having new looks in 3D... but that's just my opinion though.....

I think Mortal Kombat 6 is a way for the MK team to phase out many of the characters who have been around form the beginning, Sonya, Jax, Cage, Rayden etc. By introducing some of the classic characters, we get to find out what has happened to them and wind up some of their stories. Their stories will introduce more characters who will be new to MK7, leaving out characters like those I have mentioned above, and bringing in newer characters and only relatively few of the MK7 line up will be returners.

I am sure they have other characters in their pocket. If they don't they need to come here and look at everyones ideas. I have read enough to like over ten characters that were created here and stories to revamp older ones.

I heard somewhere that for MK7 it was going to be a bigger step. Another new fighting system or somthing. I'll have to find where i saw that. My only concern would be they focus on the game and characters and not so much on the side games. jmo

Im actually hoping MK7 will be a launch game for either xbox2(winter 2005) or PS3(2006?) and that it takes full advantage of their incredible power. After MKD, it would be nice if Boon expands the franchise with another MK Mythology game or maybe even an MK action game in the vein of devil may cry or ninja gaiden.

I think that a few characters WILL have to return so there storys can continue but as long as they keep some classic characters sure bring in some new faces so then it would be familar but at the same time new and fresh.

I don't see longtime veterans, with big fanbases being phased out of the series. They wouldn't risk getting rid of well loved characters such as Johnny Cage, Sonya, Raiden and others. Quite a few of them could use a break though, and MKD does this, and shifts the spotlight to less established characters, giving them another chance.

As for newcomers, I think there will be one or two more who are being kept a secret. Dairou's been confirmed, but we've yet to see him, and a new Shokan has been rumoured for a while. Looks like they learned there lesson after MK4's unimpressive bunch of newbies. Aside from Ben/Kobra/whatever, I like the newcomers we've seen so far, and think Hotaru will be a new favourite.
