MK:DA's intro is fine because of its story (famous Liu Kang's death), but it really lacks in terms of quality. I was used to Tekken like quality of FMVs, so I felt disappointed when I first saw MK5's intro.

However, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw MK:D's opening FMV. Just take a look at Shang's face in both intros. Not to mention the animation's quality. Moreover, Deception's intro has this intimidating feeling, which surrounds you from the first seconds and the words: "Raiden's Earthrealm champions had failed to stop the Deadly Alliance...". At least it had when you watched it for the first time. It was a nice plot twist after watching MK:DA's endings.

As for the other ones, I also prefer MK:A's and MK:SM's over MK:DA's because of the maintained quality and nice amount of action. BTW, did you notice that every next intro has more action that the previous one?

So let's hope for a brand new intro quality in MK8 instead of a total war bigger than in MK7's. Anyway, I rather don't have a favourite intro. But if I had to pick one... MK:SF's '80 style intro!

They're all good. I loved Raiden's speech in MKDA, and the MKD intro was just really well done, it terms of graphics. I think MKA's might be the best though, even though its non-canon.

My choice would have to be the intro to Mortal Kombat Deception. Following would be Deadly Alliance and Armageddon respectively.

That opening scene makes me not want to press "the button", and just play right away.

MKD is my favourite game of the recent years but my least favourite intro. I think it woiuld be better if you had a cleearer shot of the fallen earthrealm warriors, or better, actually saw shang and quan chi beating them . i like mkda intro but the main hook is seeing (my most hated character) kang getting his neck broke, how much cooler would mkd be if you saw a similar fate befall cage, jax, kitana etc?

In answer to the question- mka. i think mka intro is canon. i think li mei, kenshi, sheeva and the others we see die ARE dead and will not be in mk8. i think its fair to say we're all sick of seeing characters being brought back from the dead (i am holding out for motaro being motaro's son or something, just to justify the ridiculousness of his return) kang vs tsung in mka intro is AWESOME, as is Onaga swooping away with kahn.

mka is not my fave game, but the intro is perfection.

i know it isn't included in this thread, but my second fave is actually mk4. its so simple, but i think raiden, shinnok and especially reptile all look quality and theres a real excitement about it.

but to stick to this thread, intros in order of preference- mka, mksm, mkda. mkd

As much as I didnt like MKA too much, I did like the Intro video because it had much sword fightinga and action

id have to say mka intro is the best because every character is fighting to the death

Reasons:

1. Death of Liu Kang.
2. The 'speech'
3. No Shujinko screwing up the story.
4. Gives us more of a history of what has been happening since MK4 (briefly touched on and hard to see but its there if you squint) where as MK:D just left off where MK:DA left off with little or no reference to previous games except for MK:DA. MK: A was just one big brawl...boring!
