It's worth a try I suppose. Who would recruit?

To be honest, I really have no idea how those worked. I just saw how there were a heck of a lot of people that participated in it, and figured that might boast people's interests.

I guess I could look further on and see what to do or if anyone who actually knows what to do with them could give an explanation.

I remember that... I can't remember if it was like the last thing I did with my old username or the first thing I did with this one, but I was kind of leading the Brotherhood of Shadow. It was kind of a massive roleplaying experience spread across numerous threads, it was fun though. I think it got shut down because we got too into it, but I don't remember.

From what I recall, it was just a bunch of cliques who would all think they were better than each other. Absolutely hilarious to watch.

Each clan had an emblem or other kind of identifier they would place in their signature. It eventually got banned because people were stealing opposing clan signatures and defacing them.

I have no idea who decided who would go into what clan, or what each clan represented, or anything. We were all essentially just goofing around. At times it got a little too intense though.
The idea of the forums is to unite us all as a group. The clans essentially segregated us.

My Clan is called The Super Awesome Clan of Awesomeness and the Bestest.

I'd be curious about it depending on what it is. Something to get me to stop by the site more would be cool.

Well... if I remember correctly there was a clan hub thread and leadership of individual clans was first come, first serve. I think recruitment was at leader's discretion.

Of course, I was like 12 or 13 when this happened, and I'm afraid to look at what I wrote... so don't quote me on this.

I think if we could go about it again if we reshaped the guidlines, encouraged having fun above anything.

Sounds like a cool idea. I'd be up for it, assuming it wasn't used as a fool-proof way of abusing fellow users.

My only problem would be the sig thing. I'd have to take WAY too much time to apply a new sig. (I have web issues, considering I do everything online from my Nintendo Wii 90% of the time.)

Well I suppose it's anyone's choice about what they want to do... That said, I do remember that this whole clan thing really did not work out in the past. Lots of drama. Probably not the best thing to start up again. It does, as said, bring about segregation.


To each their own, however. Just my own opinion on the matter.

On the negative side, i can see how, if left to the trolls and abusers it could spawn segragation (but are there many if any who use this site?)

On the positive side i think if we associate with our beloved MK factions/clans (Lin Kuei, B Dragon, R. Dragon etc) we may be able to sport healthy rivalry or just show what we value most (cunning, bravery, hard work, selflessness) within the given parameters of what each clan represents.

(Obviously no-one expects anyone who declares themselves as black Dragon to suddenly seek a life of piracy in the real world)

If you decide you want to find a way to duke it out, you could always link up clan wars with the forum & chat fight league. (Results posts are a bit behind, but it's still happening every week on the chat.) Clans can fight 1v1, 2v2, or 5v5 in challenges via the forums, or active skirmishes/stat mining on the chat. Food for thought.

They were all MK related, but I don't think it would hurt to feature other games in it. I want to be the head of Foxhound haha!

How would we limit the clans? Would we limit the number of people available, the amount of clans, a minimum number of people, what they could do in other forums?

Or wouldn't it be easier to create another forum sub-section dedicated to clans and nothing else (considering how hard it would be to coordinate the clans throughout the General Discussion/ MK General Forums?)

I think something like that should be it's own sub-forum if we were to begin this anew. To avoid confusion amongst guests, newcomers, and to keep it organized, it sounds like the best way to do it.

the thing I'm seeing is that if it's on the forums, people from other clans can go and post in other clan's forums to troll, mock, or abuse the people in that clan.

Friendly rivalry can easily escalate into something much greater and much more abusive. clan Wars could only be truly done assuming you had enough people in the IRC Fight League, and if they would even matter by actually doing it themselves.
