So in a few weeks I'm going to get a taste of my first ever day of Dungeons and Dragons. I am trying to see if my character is eligible for this group seeing how she's a spell caster... Who is also a mute. I was told about certain rules and such, but... I was wondering if you guys play or have played before.

I just want to get more of a grasp because I was brought to two of these games because I was to understand playing by watching but... I fell asleep during them... Yeah, unfortunately 10:30 pm - 2:30 am is kinda late for me. But like I said, anyone who played this got any tips? If there is any?

I also want to be a dragon, but I was told I can't...

I played it once and I didn't even want to. I kinda got dragged into it. I don't even remember what race I made or his name. All I know is that he was fat and a half vampire.

I got bored in like ten minutes.

It does seem boring, even just watching it.

But then again, what I experienced the last time I watched, two of the players were butt naked from the beginning, and they're now in frilly little dresses and such. For some reason, I thought that was hilarious.

I guess it just depends on who you're playing with because I was told stories about how you get really good groups, and other times, you get really shitty ones who just nitpicks the entire time.

Hoping that when I get to play it for the first time, I can actually stay up this time.

I've never played, but why bother? The game will never be as great as the film.

My wife and I play it with some of her co-workers.

I'm a halfling warlord, which is every bit as hilarious as it sounds.

He's joking, the film's one of those movies that's famous for how bad it is.

Anyway, I've got a group of friends I game with once a week. The thing is, it does seem incredibly boring if you're just there watching...but when you're actually doing stuff, it can be a lot of fun.

The downside can be...I prefer to play characters with melee combat fighting styles, which are very quick and easy to make...but as a result, I spend a lot of time sitting around waiting for the guys playing wizards to get done picking their spells every time we're about to go into combat and again every time we level up, so I know what it feels like to not be playing and want to fall asleep from boredom about as well as someone who's there just to watch.

I'm totally not joking. The D&D movie is awful, but in such an entertaining way that I can't help but love it.

There's conventions too for the game, I found out, and I might have the opportunity to actually experience one... That is if we can all make it.

I am actually interested in going to that if it's possible that we can.

But I have my gold and blue dice ready for some rolling, I got my character all planned out and hopefully she can be playable. I was told that she could be a plausible character for the game.

I unfortunately, fell asleep during the last meeting so I don't know where they're at, plus it's going to be two weeks before I could join in and they're supposed to get emails telling them what their characters have done so far.

This seems fun.

DnD the Movie is so bad it's awesome. The actor of Damodar was particularly entertaining. And Jeremy Irons milked it dry for sheer hamminess.

I was a huge roleplayer. Very little DnD, I played M.A.G.U.S. instead, and some Old WoD: Vampire.

Coincidentally I am writing a short story for the annual MAGUS anthology.

Last night, got my first taste of it. I'm a bard. Originally, I wanted to be a cleric, but as soon as I level, I'm gonna be two classes since you can do that.

I... Almost died since I'm level three and the others are at level five... But, I'm also a challenge because my character is a mute, and can only speak either through ghost sound, the floating spirit the dungeon master placed on me, or my flute. But, we're heading to a town called Good Taste and finding out about this Cow God right now.

I'm laughing my ass off at one of our friends who tried to convince a group of warriors to stop calling my character a witch and go fight off the thirty trolls in the forest away from us. Just the way he said his stuff was just... I need to be more confident and not be shy when it's my turn explaining stuff because I have a really cool idea with this trolls and I like butchered what I was trying to say.

I'd like to find a spell of my own that casts this shyness to go away. But this is fun, can't wait for next week to happen.

Any stories you'd like to share about your experiences?
