I'm playing Wolfenstein: The New Order again after beating it the first time by making a choice in the beginning of the game.
Given Wolfenstein goes back to Wolfenstein 3D and my memories of playing it at a young age, I got hooked on it. I tried Return to Castle Wolfenstein in high school but had trouble with the stealth levels and didn't finish it until a year ago. I never played Wolfenstein (2009) but have seen it on youtube.
I decided to do the other choice and it's the same, just access to areas is different and from what I've seen is new characters. Those who played the game know what choice I'm talking about.
Despite the glitches in the game, I thought it was one of the best FPS' I played in a while and was a nice break from Call of Duty. The characters were well written and it was interesting to hear BJ talk to himself. I liked Anya and some of the Resistance fighters. The developers put a lot of details about the world through newspaper articles you can read throughout the game.
The plot was interesting in an Axis victory in World War II. The trailer with Jimi Hendrix's song playing made me want to get the game. It's as if Phillip K. Dick's story The Man in the High Castle was given a first person shooter treatment.
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
The scene that was powerful was when BJ took off his tattoo and the conversation with Set on faith. Also there were parts in the game that made me cringe like going into the labor camp and the end of the game in which you have to face the consequence of your choice.
Anyone else play this game? What did you think of it?
