nah im a very sellfish person. although i ahve been at a homeless center in Chicago once but it was a bad expirence.

I donated a few dollars to a charity for advancing breast cancer research. I also donated blood once, if that counts. I almost passed out, too.

I won't go as far to say that I'd open a self defense school, but I'd help kids to find self-esteem and dicipline in some way.

I would teach them martial arts, however I'd emphasize the important aspects of them rather as much as the self defense aspects. I learned that I could learn all the fist forms and styles in the world, but learning when to use my skills and when to avoid confrontations was just as important.

There's kids, that if not taught how to be wary of their environment, that could end up in gangs or in other bad situations that could ruin their lives. I'm have absolutly have no intention of having kids say "Nobody bother's me!" when they step out on the streets, but I do want ti instil a mindset that can enable them to avoid those situations that can leand them down the wrong path.

I feel that in some way it's my responsiblity to pass on the knowledge that I have and will learn, cuase someone passed on their knowledge to my sifu and he in turn passed it on to me. And that's the same for all of us to. Someone passed on their knowledge to those people who we hold in high asteem, and they down to us in some fashon. They're those teachers we think about when we find some old english papers in the attic and I'd like to think that if a kid were to think the same of me and benifited from what I passed on to them, then I'd feel good about it. Besides, I need someone to help pass on my Ghost Dragon Fist Style. I can't do it alone.

There needs to be more people who should do the same, cause these kids need someone to show them the right way. So why no from those who can relate to the world they're living in. I don't think a 56 year old englsh teacher making $36,000 a year can understand the situations that kids today have to face.

*sigh*

during the year my family and i give money to the salvation army, as they helped us out through a very hard time earlier in life, we have been paying back happily ever since, and we also give money to homeless people that we encounter.
