Anyone here a fan? I'm fuckin' impressed with what I'm hearing from them!
I had heard Bat Country years ago and loved it. I just acquired all their albums and Avenged Sevenfold (the album I'm currently on) is friggin' DOPE!

They are, in my opinion, one of the worst bands I have ever heard. I honestly can't stand looking at them let alone listening to them. The whole image they have going on is laughable and down right pathetic. Papa Roach has been trying to do the same thing. They look like a bunch of douchbags. They are a terrible excuse for a "metal band". I can't even justify using using that term when describing them.
I guess that's pretty much how I feel about Avenged Sevenfold. It's a good thing music is so subjective and personal or else someone else might get upset by me sharing my own opinions on a band.

I liked their first album. Never really was able to sit down with their later albums, but I wasn't happy with the radio tracks I heard.
How did they get outranked by "Jet," "The Darkness," and "Jane's Addiction"?
Is that really a musical criticism? I mean, there are a lot of bands I hate to look at, but I still dig their music.
Can't speak for their later albums, but their first record was definitely metal. Not pure metal like Maiden or Priest, but definitely part of an appropriate sub-genre. Believe me, I don't use the term loosely. I made 6 posts explaining to other users why Disturbed wasn't metal... in a Mortal Kombat news thread.

I don't know how to break the quotes up like that or I would.
But anyway...The point I was trying to make with the comment about their image is that they are pretty much the Lady Gaga of "metal". Their image is just as important to them as the music they make. They just try so hard to look like bad asses and to me they just look like idiots.
I guess the first song of theirs I heard was "Bat Country" and when I first heard it I thought it was alright but then I soon found myself getting annoyed by the singers voice and the overall "bad ass metal guys" attitude the band had. They are terrible, and I know that is just my opinion. Like I said, music is like that. I'm not going to bash someone for not liking a band that I like.
P.s. Korn's last two albums were pretty bad IMO. "See You On The Other Side" had some good songs on it, but it was definitely the beginning of the end for them. I just pretend they stopped with "Take A Look In The Mirror".

a7X is fucking amazing.
I can play much of what I want to on Guitar without much problem, but some of the solo's for them are insane.
My favs:
-Buried Alive
-Save me
-Remenissions
-Waking the Fallen
-Darkness Surrounding
-The Wicked End
-A Little Piece of Heaven
-Critical Acclaim
-Fiction
Fav album:
Waking the Fallen

I have City of Evil and the self titled album on my computer. They're not the worst tracks I have, but far from great. I heard the lead single for the new album, nightmare. Turned me off from the whole album. Plus their drummer's dead, and I enjoyed his vocals more than Shadow's

They need a new singer if they ever want my attention. He sounds too damned nasally.

MAN! I used to love Korn. When they collaborated with Ice Cube, it made my year! And I was 8!!!

If you can't enjoy A7X's latest album, then I'd hate to know what your taste in music is. Save for one song, that album is pure gold.

If "insert ridiculously cliche stage name here" still has that painfully nasally voice then no thanks.

Oh he most certainly does. I don't know who gets under my skin more, M. Shadows or the lead singer from New Found Glory.

I recently got into them.
I really love their skills in the piano and guitar. I just may become a fan.

I really don't know either, but I'd say something along the lines of death metal. I really wouldn't understand the difference though, if there is one. And why are we posting in this color? Lololo

I'm a Disturbed fan (aka Disturbed One) but when it comes to Avenged Sevenfold, I was turned on to this band with their video Almost Easy.
I have to say this is a band with potential. Some things could change, but I think it may be too late in the game for them.
Their music is good (especially Nightmare, Beast and The Harlot, and City of Evil), but I think for them to change their sound this late into the game would be devastating. Linkin Park did the same thing, and ever since their Minutes to Midnight album, they just haven't been the same. Stay with the sound that came from Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and Meteora.
But I do have to say this about Avenged Sevenfold. They can do music. Really well I might add!

Seconded, Sound the Seventh Trumpet was a pretty decent album, though they proved that softness wasn't their strong suit with a stinker like "Warmness on the Soul." On the other hand, crunchy riffs and shifting rhythms were plentiful, and they even exhibited some slow, creative, deliberate songwriting (my favorite kind) in "To End the Rapture."
Nowadays, though, they're churning out the same watery, tepid, sugar-coated crap as everyone else, and most of their lead work sounds amateurish and uninspired; the solo at the beginning of "Almost Easy" is an example of a solo that's not only totally unnecessary, but also out-of-place-sounding, and out-of-key (and not in a good way).
