- Marvel Studios Announces "Captain Marvel," "Black Panther," "Avengers: Infinity War"

"Black Panther" is made official for Nov. 3, 2017 -- "T'Challa himself, and all of Wakanda" -- is coming to theaters on . "We have already started seeding things in the films leading up to this moment," Feige said, calling Black Panther one of the most exciting and integral Marvel characters. The film will be about the "isolationist nation" of Wakanda meeting the rest of the world, which may go well and may not.

- Feige Says Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange Not Official, Black Panther 'Big Part' of "Civil War"

One casting that is official is Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. A "Black Panther" film was announced for Nov. 3, 2017, but the character will be seen on-screen a year-and-a-half before then, in May 6, 2016's "Captain America: Civil War."

"He is definitively a big part of 'Civil War,'" Feige told reporters. "We will meet him for the first time in 'Civil War,' in costume."

Finally. After all these years, T'Challa gets his time to shine!

I'm unfamiliar with Chadwick Boseman, but he definitely looks the part. Glad Marvel went with the "lesser known" route with their choice.

I wonder if people will have had enoughof Marvel movies by that time. There is no guarantee that the quality would keep up, and I doubt RDJ will stick that long around as Iron Man.

As a fan, I know I won't be losing interest. This cinematic universe is getting much more broad and exciting every time they make an announcement.

I am curious to see if our new T'Challa will make a surprise cameo appearance in of the post-credit scenes to next year's
"Avengers : Age of Ultron"... I suppose I'll play the waiting game!

I mean, if the quality is still high, and the movie is marketed right like it was with Guardians, I don't see why people would lose interest in it.

T'Challa will be making his first appearance in Captain America 3.

Theres speculation he could be taking Spider-mans place in the "Civil War" adaptation.

The target audience is people who are going to keep going the the movies every summer anyway, regardless of the content of the film.

It's why no matter how bad they are, people never stop going to Bayformers sequels. It helps though that Marvel movies are actually average-to-good.

Speaking of Michael Bay, I hear he may not be returning to direct the 5th Transformers movie anyway.

- Chadwick Boseman Shares New "Black Panther" Insight: 'It's a Brainstorming Phase'

Who said I was prepping? [Laughs] I think right now, it's just going through the possibilities of what he can do. It's a brainstorming phase, trying to figure out what it looks like -- I'm going to be as vague as I can! -- what it looks like and what it should feel like in certain moments. But just going through [the material], because there's always a difference from one story to the next of who he is -- trying to find a way to merge those things together. Because I think that's always fun when these movies work: it's when people see several things satisfied at one time. And I think that's been the fun part so far.

Not much there, but worth a peep if you're excited.

- Marvel/Sony Spider-Man Deal Leads to Four Marvel Studios Films Getting New Dates

"Thor: Ragnarok," originally slated for the same date as the new Spidey movie, has moved to Nov. 3, 2017. "Black Panther" will now be released on July 6, 2018. "Captain Marvel" moves to Nov. 2, 2018 and "Inhumans" will shift to July 12, 2019.

This is effectively a series of one movie taking the place of the previous one; "Black Panther" was originally in the November 2017 spot, "Captain Marvel" was slated for July 2018 and "Inhumans" was initially targeted for November 2018. Both halves of the two-part third installment of the "Avengers" franchise will stay put, with "Avengers: Infinity War Part 1" scheduled for May 4, 2018 and "Avengers: Infinity War Part 2" scheduled for May 3, 2019.

Arggghhhhh! Spidey's cool, but it sucks Black Panther got bumped back!

- RUMOR: Ernie Hudson in Talks for "Black Panther" Role

Actor Ernie Hudson may be a contender for the role of King T'Chaka in Marvel's upcoming "Black Panther" film. A report from Latino-Review has the "Ghostbusters" alum researching the character in anticipation of possibly playing the father of the classic Marvel hero.

I was kinda still carrying a torch for Djimon Hounsou to sneak in as the elder Black Panther, but after Guardians that lost its flavor, any way.

- T’Challa graces the cover of ‘Time,’ ‘Wired’ in fan-made promotional images

Fun and cool, but I prefer a Wakanda that's too insular, and a Black Panther that's too guarded, to make for a full cover story like these. Maybe as an intrigue story, a 'behind the borders' feature. Not something this exposed.

Still - very cool fan-art. Really hope [Marvel] don't F this one up.

- Ava DuVernay nixes Black Panther gig: 'We just didn't see eye to eye'

Ava DuVernay will not be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe after all. Rumors that the Selma director was in talks to direct Black Panther, the 2017 standalone starring Chadwick Boseman, turned out to be true, but it wasn’t an ideal match.

“I think I’ll just say we had different ideas about what the story would be,” she told Essence, during the Essence festival in New Orleans on Saturday. “Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they’re fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me.”

Last month, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed that he had spoken to DuVernay about the property.

“I loved meeting Chadwick and writers and all the Marvel execs,” DuVernay told Essence. “In the end, it comes down to story and perspective. And we just didn’t see eye to eye. Better for me to realize that now than cite creative differences later. ... I love the character of Black Panther, the nation of Wakanda and all that that could be visually. I wish them well and will be first in line to see it.”

Bummer. Thems the breaks when the franchise comes ahead of the art, though.

- EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Pursuing Ryan Coogler To Direct 'Black Panther'

According to sources, Ryan Coogler, the HOT director of Sundance indie breakout hit Fruitvale Station (a must watch imho) is being pursued by Marvel to direct the upcoming Black Panther!

I never bought that they were waiting for a finished script before going out to directors. Coogler is deep into post production on Creed which Warners drops in theaters on Thanksgiving.

Coogler makes perfect sense. A hot young filmmaker who sources tell me is willing to do big commercial fare so a superhero movie is probably the next logical step. On a side note, Coogler sat right in front of me in the VIP section of the DC Hall H panel at Comic Con back in July so I suspected he was maybe considering Cyborg for the studio. I know Marvel and I know they track heat. I'm hearing nothing but great things about Creed.

Sounds like a good get name-wise! Hard to know how he fits the material.

- Black Panther: Meet Marvel's fearsome warrior from Captain America: Civil War

Panther is a key figure in the conflict between Chris Evans’ Cap and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, and his allegiance is in flux — although he’s got serious issues with Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. the Winter Soldier, which steers him alongside the man in the iron mask.

While Tony Stark is known for flooding the zone with wisecracks, Black Panther isn’t fooling around.

“He’s definitely not the life of the party in this instance,” says Boseman, who won the role last October. “I think this is something true of the comic book character and the movie. You never quite know where he stands. There’s always a bit of concealing and mystery. So I think mysterious is more his boat. Not to say there’s not charm and he can’t be a ladies’ man and all that. It’s more like if there is humor, it’s more like James Bond.”

I dig it, but I wish they'd taken from the 00's design and got some gold in there.

Right the Panther is the wealthiest character in Marvel? A trillionaire I herd.
That would make him the richest in all of fiction.

- Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ Has Officially Found Its Director

After months of speculation, Marvel has finally put its seal on the deal and confirmed its director for “Black Panther.”

And lo, the rumors were true: “Fruitvale Station” and “Creed” director Ryan Coogler will helm the Phase III pic, which will feature Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, a.k.a. T’Challa, a character expected to make his kickass debut in “Captain America: Civil War” this May.

Super excited for this. I've heard great things about Creed, so I'm confident in Marvel's choice in it's director.

Black Panther is happening.

Doctor Strange is happening.

Now only Iron Fist is left...

- Michael B. Jordan Joins Marvel's 'Black Panther' (Exclusive)

Michael B Jordan will reteam with his Creed director Ryan Coogler for Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, inking a deal to join movie's buzzy cast, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

This would be the third time that Jordan will work with Coogler, who is helming the comic book movie as well as writing the script with Joe Robert Cole. The first time the duo came together was for the indie drama Fruitvale Station.

Chadwick Boseman is toplining Black Panther while Lupita Nyong’o is in negotiations to star alongside him.

It is unclear who Jordan would play but one source told THR that it could be a villain. Marvel had no comment.

Boseman and Black Panther were introduced in Captain America: Civil War, which crossed the $700 million worldwide mark in under a week and a half.

Yet another opportunity to wash the stink of Fantastic Four off with a more memorable role!

- SDCC: Marvel Reveals Michael B. Jordan's "Black Panther" Role

The announcement was made this evening during Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Virtually from the moment news surfaced in May of Jordan's casting as a potential villain, speculation gravitated toward Killmonger, a classic Black Panther villain introduced in 1973's "Jungle Action" #6.

A native of Wakanda, his father was forced into the service of Ulysses Klaw when he and his mercenaries attacked the African nation. Following Klaw's defeat, T'Challa exiled Killmonger's family, an act that led the son to swear revenge. With his repatriation back to Wakanda, Killmonger became a subversive, determined to return the technologically advanced nation to its ancient ways.

- New Black Panther Concept Art Shows Nation of Wakanda

The mid-credits scene of “Captain America: Civil War” gave us our first peek inside Black Panther’s African nation of Wakanda. While the clip only showed a panther statue deep in the heart of the jungle, new concept art highlights the film version of Wakanda’s impressive city structure and temples.

Yessssss! (Sadly, I don't think Black Panther will look that slick.)
