Alright, I just got my bulk folder a couple days ago and been getting emails that contain viruses. The troubling thing is that one of them had my email address, as if I sent myself the very email. And this isn't spam from people trying to sell you shit either.

I've changed my password and I suggest everyone that uses Yahoo do the same. I've also set up the spam guard as well. It would seem that some punk ass bitch muther fucker is exploiting a flaw in Yahoo's bulk email service to do this crap. Truly someone that deserves to be guillotined in fucking public!furious

So far they only have a single word message and are always accompanied with an attatchment that contains a virus! So DO NOT OPEN THEM! Best to make a folder and move them ALL there and contact Yahoo ASAP to apprise them of the situation.

It would also be a good idea if people who Hotmail, MSN, and others to keep ane eye out as well and report anything such as I described ASAP.

~sigh~

Yeah, I once got on my ex girlfriend's account because she told me to check something and I notice there was an e-mail and the was "me" but I knew it wasn't me because instead of appearing my name in symbols like it appears when I send an e-mail it appeared my e-mail address but in all caps. When I oppened the email, it was sent to ALL my contacts!!! So I got on my account and sent an e-mail to all my contacts saying what happened and telling them not to open any e-mail that supponsedly "I" sent but it didn't say my name correctly (with symbols). A few days later I recieved replies from my friends saying that they recieved that e-mail but didn't oppened it because they noticed something strange on "my" name and in the subject of the e-mail.

Well, that's my experience, hope it helps.

Yeah I used to get those all the time. It was weird though, I'd get emails from people I knew, but didn't ever talk to... I just delete everything in my bulk folder anyway.
This is called "spoofing"
This is not a new thing on the internet.
Viruses collect email addresses from infected computer email address books (like the one in yahoo). If your email address is in someone elses address book it will use this as "from" address as a disguise.Typically all names in the address book will get the virus sent to them, often with their own address in the "from"/sender field.

You will only get the virus yourself if you open the attachment, however recently there have been viruses that don't need the attachment to even be opened.

Best thing to do is make sure you have:
A firewall program
A virus detection program
A spyware detection program

All of which should be updated regularly.
