Who would have seen it coming?! What do you think about this cow CoD that Activision will use for frantic milking again? Roman numerals and all.

Well in my opinion, I think Treyarch does the CoD name justice. I really enjoyed Black Ops (Multiplayer and especially Zombiez. Story mode was really fucking awesome too.).
Treyarch always brings something fresh to the table when it comes to CoD, and it ACTUALLY WORKS OUT. Unlike Infinity Whored, who just ignore their loyal fans, and make online just one big clusterfuck of air crafts and shit.
I'm looking forward to Blacks Ops II, especially for the Zombiez and stuff. I also hope they take their genius multiplayer from Black Ops and make it even better.
Well that's my perspective of this Treyarch's versions of CoD.

Actually bro. Treyarchs CoD's are actually good. BlackOPS 1 is among my favorite cod and WAW is good to. Even at almost 5 years old people still play it legit. MW2 is really, really bad. The community is very un-playable half the time. Interventions & Frag Grenade kills is all people do. Mix that with tons of camping and it's rather tiresome. Treyarch seems to have the better community in their games. And BLOPS was and still is very fun and addicting.
I'm so anticipated for this game. MK And CoD are really the only games that get me super excited knowing a new game is coming.

Hell yeah, Treyarch actually makes the better CoDs.

Call of Duty's like the Nickelback of gaming. Everyone hates it yet it still manages to be the biggest game in the world.

Be realistic. BLOPS was THE only good Treyarch COD and Activision will ruin it just like it ruined Modern Warfare. Or Treyarch themselves. Not sure. Annual releases spell doom for the quality of any series.

Why do people only say this about call of duty. There are other games such as battlefield that make only a few improvements. But really, i like cod and bf, but why does everyone has to bash it. The improvements they do make are good, and usually not ever for the bad.

They say that because COD has grown stale. They have stuck with the same thing since COD4. But Blops was a good COD. They really did a great job on that one.
Blops was the best one since COD4 and my personal favorite. And yes, its no secret that Treyarch makes the better CODs. The Modern Warfare series is downright terrible. I give props to Blops for trying different things such as Combat Training, Amazing Customization, More balanced Multiplayer, Actually trying to make a good story, Great easter eggs, Theater Mode, Wager Matches, and of course ZOMBIES.
That said, Infinity Ward decided to ignore quite a few of the awesome features above to put in MW3. That is exactly why the Modern Warfare series blows. They really didn't add anything new at all.
I'm actually looking forward to Blops 2. I don't care how bad it is... It couldn't be half as bad as MW2 and MW3.

I don't think it's grown stale so much as the changes they've made each game have sucked all kinds of balls. WaW was never really playable because of hackers, and it had a very similar problem that BO has, and is one of the main reasons why I won't be getting BO2; the weapon balance is absolutely awful.
Seriously, think about it. You could probably count on one hand the number of viable guns in each game, and said guns are so overpowered it's ridiculous. In WaW it's the Thompson, MP40, M1A1, and perhaps the Springfield as well. In BO, it's the AK74u, FAMAS, and really that's about it. No other gun comes close to those two in BO. There are other decent guns, like the Commando, Enfield, and Galil, but they all have damning flaws.
Moving to MW2, I think the reasons why I hated that game for so long are related to the maps being terrible and ability to make incredibly dickish classes. OMA-DC-anything, M-L-C, Bling-SP-Ninja (so you could tube and still have your favorite attachment, doing max bullet damage since DC wasn't all that necessary to succeed with the tube, while not being heard either), etc. The weapon balance in MW2 is the best in the entire series, and I know this because I took the time to master every primary weapon in the game. Definitely held my K/D down a bit, but I don't care about that. Every primary gun in the game is viable against any other gun if used right. Getting back to perk balance real quick, I think the main problem with perk balance has been the reduction of the total number of perks. I know this is due to death streaks and the want to outright remove some perks (Stopping Power, for one), but having so many choices in CoD4 and WaW allowed for better variety in the community.
I finally started to appreciate MW2 once I played BO. BO's maps were better, but sniping was impossible unless you were a quickscoper, and as I said above the weapon balance was fucking awful. Perk balance wasn't great either, as there wasn't a reason to use anything besides Ghost in the first slot (unless you're afraid of the RC-XD, then Flak Jacket). The issue is the removal of Stopping Power. It gets taken out and the obvious next best perk is not being seen on UAV, so everyone flocks to that and the game becomes a campfest. It also didn't help in BO that all of the other good perks were in the second slot and nothing in Tier 3 was anywhere near useful. Wager matches were cool though.
So MW3 comes around, and after hearing all the complaints about camping and other issues, like the perk balance in MW2, what does IW/Sledgehammer do? Make a bunch of maps that are absolute clusterfucks, in the name of ending camping. I can't think of more than a few maps that actually have some semblance of flow to them. Hardhat, Bootleg, Outpost, and Village come to mind, but even then the stupid revenge spawns screw all of that up. IW smoked some of Treyarch's crack when it came to weapon balance, as the few viable guns (Type 95, MP7, PP90M1, ACR, M14) once again dominate. And, just like BO, there are definitely second tier guns (SCAR, USAS, Striker, M4A1, P90), but they all have fatal flaws that prevent them from being nearly as useful, and just about every other primary is horribad other than the specialized guns (i.e. snipers). Also, the spammable snipers need to stop. First it was the M21 in MW2, then the Dragunov in BO, and now it's the RSASS in MW3. Takes no skill, but then again, neither does anything else in CoD.
Perk balance is again terrible. There is no reason to regularly use anything other than Recon/SoH in the first slot, Assassin in the second slot, and Stalker/Dead Silence in the third slot. Recon also makes SitRep Pro totally worthless, since you don't need to listen for footsteps if a stun or flash reveals the enemy, much less bullets. Scavenger is now worthless because it doesn't replenish equipment, and unless you're a tryhard you aren't staying alive long enough to run out of ammo. Blind Eye is only good to take down aircraft. ExCon... lol ExCon. No perk 2 is good enough to warrant using instead of Assassin. They're decent enough in special situations or gametypes (Hardline especially... use Hardline Pro on Dome with a Support setup and watch your killstreaks pile up), but none are as all purpose as Assassin, Overkill being especially awful. No reason to use it when there are a good number of secondaries that are better than many of the primaries. Perk 3s... Marksman sucks because the maps are so harshly geared against hardscoping, Steady Aim has really never been a viable perk, and the aforementioned SitRep.
What this all adds up to is that not only has CoD gotten progressively worse since CoD4, but it's now at a point where neither IW nor Treyarch has to put any effort into the game (IW clearly doesn't, that's for sure) to get sales, because it has the Call of Duty name on it. They could literally be selling a bag of shit, and people will still buy it because it says CoD on the bag.
I can do nothing but shake my head at this generation of gamers.

I'll say the same stuff about all the other stupid shooters out nowadays too. COD, MOH, BF, and heck even fake ass modern tactical shooters like Future Soldier too. Modern shooting games are mindless and repetitive garbage. There's no intelligence, no sophistication, and no difficulty.
Thank freaking goodness we have Takedown.

The 1st Black Ops was actually really good. The Campaign was even better than the MW series' story.

WOOT got mine pre ordered!!1111
Really though, although I have been playing the COD games for a long time and for the most part have enjoyed them, I agree the differences between COD4 and the ones after are getting smaller and more retarded. That and I'm really getting tired of the modern warfare angle. Would love to play a WWI game or even a shooter set in a time period before that. Also I haven't played COD3 in a long time now because the spawning system in combination with the super uneven connection speeds was just too infuriating. I felt like no matter how good i got or how much time i put into the game it didn't really fucking matter.

I wonder when is CoD going to suffer the same fate as GH. That will be a happy day for me, that's for sure.

There hasn't been a CoD game I've not enjoyed. (MW2 was a bit arse)
Yes, they are overly expensive, perhaps relying too much on a cool soundtrack and/or a controversial moment.
But for the most part I have really enjoyed the single player.
Multi is different. Haven't got into a CoD multi-player since World at War. And now WaW is raped. Really fucking badly.

I really enjoyed Call of Duty 4, and the subsequent games' multiplayer. MW2 is when I started to phase myself out of Multiplayer. I usually play the various Call of Duty games for their campaign. (Black Ops has my favorite campaign of the COD series) And also the other Co-operative game mode.
I developed a dislike towards the Multiplayer starting with MW2. For the next COD games, I gave the Multiplayer a chance, but I eventually stopped playing Multiplayer altogether on all of the COD games. Black Ops is my favorite COD game, next to World at War. Because of the Zombie mode. Zombies has a good story line, for a COD game. Many fun times were had on the Zombie mode in WAW. Black Ops is my second favorite for the Zombies and the Combat Training, which is like Multiplayer, only with A.I. Bots.
I don't play COD much, but I like Treyarch's COD games. Infinity Ward's COD games aren't appealing to me anymore.

Okay, everybody got the news. Call of Duty is a talkative subject for its lack of new content and the split, controversial community. I prefer games like Halo and Gears of War – I guess Battlefront III could have been another decent FPS. Call of Duty isn't part of my small FPS shopping list though.
What exactly made BlOps all that delightful in the first place?

Personally I really liked the story. Didn't know much about the cold war and I just really enjoyed it.
Plus the Zombies mode was hella fun.
My advice, rent it. Story mode should only last a weekend.

I'll stick with Battlefield, being one of those people who prefers to go above and beyond the Call of Duty.
at the end of the day all this is is CoD1 Expansion pack 7.

BF3 has one of the worst story modes ever! The interesting thing about BF is the Bad Company 1&2. Outside of those BF has gotten worse. The BF3 beta was a mess. The game is glitchy, buggy. Not to mention, some of the worst screen tearing ever. Frostbite Engine is pretty poor. And yes, IW recycles stuff. That's why TreyArchs CoD's are equivalent to The Bad Company games. In that those are the best of the series. But I'm not h8'n on BF3, Because MW3 is shitty to.

well of course the beta was a mess, its beta. I don't know about this screen taring issue either, I haven't had that issue since beta. BF3's story reads like CoD, it may not be better but no one bought BF3 for the story anyway. even with the bugs it's still better than CoD. The series hasn't changed much since CoD4, which was the best one. It did have the best intro out of any FPS ever. I'd imagine if it weren't for CoD 4, it wouldn't be as popular as it is today.
