So yeah I'm over the moon right now. My all-time favorite RE game is finally getting the remake it deserves. First FF7 and now RE2, 2015 is the year of the remake it seems.

I just hope they keep the fixed camera angles and tank like controls. And current gen only please.

What about you guys? Any RE fans hype about this?

OMFG YES!!!!!!! I absolutely loved the remake of the first RE and RE2 is probably my favorite in the series. There's no way they can fuck this up. But damn since it's barely announced that probably means it'll be available in 2021. Anyone who knows RE knows there's always a long gap between announcement and release date. Ugh but at least we know now for sure it's coming out instead of speculating like we have for the last 10 years.

Dunno if I love the news, or hate it. Would've loved to see the REII style and spirit return in a sequel -- something new. On the other hand, if we can't have nice new things, the chance to revisit one of the best -- with some polish and perhaps new options (smoother controls) -- is as good as it gets.

Resident Evil 2 Remake.
-Third person shooting mechanics. So say goodbye to the highly detailed disturbing backgrounds and well set atmosphere with the help of the fixed camera angles.

And get ready for the more quick and action style of play that one would expect from Dead Space. Oh and of course the zombies will be running now.

-Microtransaction costumes and weapons. If you pay 10 bucks you can play the whole game first time with a rocket launcher :D.

-B scenarios as 15 dollar DLC, and lets not forget the locked
on disk DLC characters Hunk and Tofu and the extra DLC of the mini Ada and Sherry scenarios.

-Oh and in this version not all the umbrella agents were killed
by William so you encounter more of them throughout the game along with Umbrella Mercenaries, than you do running into those flaky white faced roaring excuses for zombies so prepare for those new and improved cover mechanics :D.

- Things like the truck explosion, the Alligator and Mr.X are quick time event set pieces now.

-And the entire game will have an unremarkable Hans Zimmer imitation score that completely clashes with the environments and you will walk away not remembering one piece of music all because Triple A games are trying to compete and be taken as seriously as movies these days. Because people are self conscious that they make video games...

If they make it like they did the RE1 remake and RE Zero then I'll be very happy!
I doubt we will see anything for a year which will probably be an announcement of a 2017/2018 release tho.
I'm hyped but I'm gonna put it in the back of my mind until nearer it's release.

- Resident Evil 2 Reborn team invited to help with the Resident Evil 2 remake

When news broke that Capcom would develop a Resident Evil 2 remake, the world rejoiced - well, a lot of it, anyway. I imagine there were some people following the development of Resident Evil 2 Reborn (a fan-made game created in Unreal Engine 4) who were less than pleased, afraid of what would happen to the project. The bad news is that work on Resident Evil 2 Reborn has ceased. The good news is that the team was invited to meet with Capcom to give their ideas to the development of the official RE2 remake.

From a post on the group's Facebook page: "Contrary to what might be thought, this is wonderful news for us and, as fans, we're so happy That Capcom has DECIDED to take the lead of the project and to develop the remake awaited for years by everybody (nobody could bring back to life the masterpiece of 1998 better than the Creators Themselves). Meanwhile as developers, we're honored to announce That We've been officially invited to meet Capcom."

Interesting development. Hope Capcom don't shaft them.
