I know a lot of people don't believe that what these guys do works. There are some people that go to them for various reasons.

I go to one because I have terrible migraines. Whenever I have a fainting episode, due to my medical condition, then next time I come into the office and look at the graph that they have when they scan my spine, you can totally see if I'm out of whack due to how erratic the line is.

The graph is basically like what you see when you have an ultrasound. The wild the line is, the messed up your spine is.

My dad and brother both have messed up backs. A ceiling caved down on my dad and many years later, he fell down a staircase re-injuring his back. My brother got his back messed up thanks to football. Both see the same chiropractor and ever since someone had mentioned that chiropractic treatment also works for preventing migraines, I too see the same guy. My mom cracks a joke that she's the only one without a messed up back, just as much as she jokes about not being the only one that went to the same high school. Ha!

But I would like to know if any one of you guys go to one and for what reason. Or even if you don't believe in their work at all. I know that there are some that don't. While they haven't really told me their reasons why, they still like to pester me about what they do isn't working. I know that they have their reasons and I don't say anything to interfere but, still, I'd like to know why they think that way.

So, what are your thoughts about chiropractors?

I went to a chiropractor after I had an accident. He actually help me with the therapy he gave me, so recommend them. I was happy with the results.

I went to a chiropractor for about four months after a car accident. I thought they were great help. I still have some residual pain every once in a while, but for the most part they pretty much "fixed" my neck and back problems.

I used to go to one. I have back problems, and they where helpful. I had one chiropractor that could pinpoint knots in my neck and was very good adjusting it. I especially looked forward to seeing a chiropractors when i was sick and my head was congested as well. A good neck adjustment just clears up all the systems instantaneously. It only lasted maybe an hour or so, but it just feels so good to have all symptoms of a cold clear up instantaneously. I just wish insurance companies where more willing to pay for these kinds of alternative therapies.

Chiropractic risks far outweigh the benifits that can be achieved. From a scientific perspective, Chiropractic can treat twisted or out-of-place vertebrae of the spinal column, and treat lower back pain.

However there are no other benefits that can be provided by chiropractic. Minor issues with the spine that cause headaches and other ailments are only very temporarily treated by the practice (this is why you need to go back weekly or more often.)

Adjustments of the spine are extremely dangerous and have caused documented strokes ans seizures due to the adjustments causing the spinal column to make contact with the major blood vessels leading into and out of the brain. Adjustments of the neck should be illegal for this reason (chiropractors are NOT medical doctors)

If you have a severe subluxation or lower back pain only, go to a chiropractor and only for a month or two. do NOT let them mess around with your neck.

Some chiropractors are professional about this, others are not. Essentially it is quackery that has some benefits the trick is how to figure out who is legit and who isn't

ehow advice on chiropractic scams and how to fint legit ones

Quackwatch search for chiropractic, first result is most documented stroke incident.

I was suffereing some acute lower back pain mid last year, I don't remember hurting it I just woke up one day and it was sore, I considered going to see one.

Set me back in the gym for a few months but its all good now and I'm back to deadlifting 200% my body weight. I use back support now when going to maxes for Deadlifts and bent over rows, even though I'm not sure I hurt my back in the gym since I've allways been very carefull with my form and alignment.

I made the mistake when I was young by having a friend of mine "pop" my back (where they lift you really fast to supposedly help straighten your spine),

It caused a disc to slip and pinched several nerves in my spine. I've had it worked on by a professional, but my back has been a mess ever since. In another 5-6 years, I'll probably be walking around like Egore, if I'm able to walk at all.

PROTIP: NEVER let anyone pop your back who isn't a trained professional. It can seriously fuck you up.
