Concepts/ideas that can be sold to both liberals and conservatives
It occured to me a while ago, with both parties loving to act as if they're completely different, than you can get both parties to want the same thing, so long as you use different words that are more specific to each of them.
Basically, my point is, that to sell an idea to liberals, you just have to convince it's good for the environment, or that it contribues to civil rights, , or that it's practical, something like that. But to sell it to conservatives, you'd have to convince them that it's badass, and manly.
One thing Yahoo's been talking about a lot lately are micro-houses. They don't hesitate to bring up the environmental benefits of those little boxes. And of course, you get the cons' freedom fighters schtick, as can be expected when they're not in power, more babbling about socialism, and how libs want to stick us in boxes, yada yada. Many libs seem to love micro-houses, because they're apparently good for the environment, and practical, and so on.
But if we get a republican in the white house in 2016, these same cons complaining about micro-houses will probably love them out of a sudden, no doubt because said houses will now be marketed as a real man's home, because real men don't need much, you see. Libs on the other hands, will now complain about inhumane conditions, and cons will be happy to call them wusses, spoiled brats, faggots and so on.
So, am I right? Can you sell almost anything to partisan hacks of both parties, so long as you use the right words, the right slogans? Red beds for cons, blue beds for libs, etc?

I hardly think that's the point.
When it comes to partisan politics, each party is so focused on turning public opinion on undoing each other, the corruption festers with those people in power so they get away with screwing the country they run. It happens in the US and the UK on a daily basis. Isn't it nice to have the big things in common with out cousins across the pond?
I have hated both liberals and conservatives for a very long time. I always have to put with both parties' bullshit. Libs have proven to be just as bigoted as cons on many issues, but there's rarely anyone who is neither liberal or conservative who can counter the libs' argument.
In many debates between those two bunch of twits, most libs easily counter most cons' arguments, but when it's the libs being full of shit, well, there's almost never any politically independent (and intelligent) individuals to counter them. So infuriating. I could try and be one of the few countering them, but I admit idiots frequently wear me down in debates.
Why the bloody hell are people who are neither libs nor cons so rare? Why are most people part of either one of these parties? I do hear the word "libertarian" thrown around as if it's an alternative to those two, but many libertarians just seem like cons unsatisfied with the mainstream con party.

As irritating as it is, I think it's dangerous to sell ideas to both parties in an attempt to promote unity. Bipartisan effort in the US is nothing more than a twice-as-effective attempt to repeal inalienable rights. This is precisely how we ended up with the Patriot Act.
Let them squabble, let them argue. It buys those of us who love our freedoms and liberties a bit more time to stockpile for the inevitable revolution (which I honestly believe most posters on this forum will see in their lifetime).
