Do split screen shooters still exist?

This month is so disappointing for shooting games, but in general, this month's releases reveal a disturbing trend. It appears that both Red Faction Armageddon and Duke Nukem Forever will not have any split screen mode what-so-ever. As somebody who has grown up on such genre defining games, this is incredibly disappointing. It seems like you aren't allowed to play with friends in person anymore for the vast majority of games. What split-screen games are left? There was nothing better than playing 4-player goldeneye split-screen, but shooting games have seemingly regressed in this department since the (much less capable) N64. The social aspect of the newest Mortal Kombat is one of my favorite aspects of the game, and it's a shame that the vast majority of publishers don't follow suit.
What do you guys think about this? What good social games still exist? It seems like Call of Duty and Halo are the only FPS games that offer split-screen gaming, while classics lie Red Faction and Duke Nukem have backed out of the market because of "hardware limitations". Is there no happy medium between playing friends and enjoying innovative Shooting Games.
I apologize for the incoherent, ranty nature of this thread. I've been drinking heavily.

You have a point, I'd rather be local with friends than online with randoms.

Yeah this seems to be the excuse most developers are using for not including split screen in games now-a-days.
I'm sure part of the reason why developers have shied away from split screen is that since they have to develop for online play with much more people playing, the maps have to be much bigger, and it doesn't really seem to make sense to develop a split screen mode for fewer players, when most MP maps don't make a whole lot of sense for split screen play.
FPS aside I think Stanglehold had local MP support.

There are plenty of split screen shooters - though most are old.
Perfect Dark Zero
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
Rainbow Six Vegas
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Halo 3
Halo 3 ODST
Halo Reach
Call of Duty World at War
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty Black Ops (Zombie Mode)
Gears of War
Gears of War 2
Borderlands (pretty sure)
Those are all the 360 split screen co-op shooters I can think of off the top of my head but I'm sure there's more. If you go into the backwards compatible games you can increase the total. For instance,
Halo CE
Halo 2
Ghost Recon 2
Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike
Perfect Dark Zero
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
Rainbow Six Vegas
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Halo 3
Halo 3 ODST
Halo Reach
Call of Duty World at War
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty Black Ops (Zombie Mode)
Gears of War
Gears of War 2
Borderlands (pretty sure)

I played GoldenEye and Perfect Dark a lot in 4-player mode with my friends back in the days but I guess it's nowadays just easier to turn the console online and play online with a bunch of nobodies rather than going to your friend's house and have more fun. People don't bother to do it that much anymore.
