I mean, there are some great sequels out there, but sheer originality is also quite enjoyable. But, which would you prefer more? Fatality.

I guess I would have to say the original material. Even if the sequal was way better than the original, I always find myself going back to the first one.

Ooh, tough question. I guess it depends on how much I liked the first game. If the first was really good, I can be skeptical about a sequel living up to the standard's of the first, and for good reason(Devil May Cry 2, anyone?). But then again, there are some very good games that have produced excellent sequels like the Final Fantasy series and MGS. I guess I want to have my cake and eat it, too: If I play a game I really like, I'll usually always want to see a sequel, and of course I would always want that sequel to totally own the first game in every way possible. But, it don't always happen.

Let's take the new Ninja Gaiden game. Just like it's predecessors, the game his harder than hell. I've played the original 3 on the nes and there are still times where I get frustrated about falling off a cliff or being killed by a stage boss.

I think that if the sequel retains the spirit of the original while still making innovations and having a great story line, then the sequel can be woth buying. But of course some titles such as DOA have disappointed fans a great deal.
