Ok. So, for those of you who don't know what DA:O is, or at the least never played it, it's an RPG. The main goal of the game is to stop Loghain, one of the antagonists, from controlling Ferelden's (the country you're in) armies and then to use said armies to defeat the Archdemon, a dragon tainted with Darkspawn blood. Darkspawn are the main enemy in this game aside from Loghain and his allies.

SO! The landsmeet. This is a gathering of all the nobles. It's near the end, in fact, just before the end, and it's when you have to speak out against Loghain in an open forum and try to convince the nobles to support you.

Now, I've done just about every outcome with each origin story, EXCEPT for one.

I've always wanted to make a Male Human Noble and have him marry Anora AND have Alistair stay with the wardens. Loghain can die, I don't care for him in this situation. In fact, Loghain HAS to die, which happens to be a problem

Loghain = Father of Anora. Anora = Former Queen of Ferelden trying to keep her throne so she can continue ruling. Alistair= Another grey warden (order of warriors that you join) that is put forth as king due to him being the half-son of the former king.

Now, I've read plenty, and I mean PLENTY, of walkthroughs and posts online about how to pull this off. So, the gist goes:

1. Convince Anora before the landsmeet to marry you. This way, you form the alliance in the landsmeet with her so she supports you against her father, and then will handily agree to the marriage.

2. When the time comes and you beat Loghain, you HAVE to execute him. You can do it, or you can make Alistair do it. In order for you to marry Anora, Alistair has to kill him, because Anora will not marry her father's murderer.

3. When the nobles ask for who shall be king and/or queen, you are asked to mediate it. Thus, you can choose that you and Anora be wed.

Now, this has always worked IF I let Loghain live and exiled Alistair, instead of executing Loghain. I hate doing this, because while I like Loghain's character, I like Alistair more and throughout the game, Alistair is essentially my Warden's best friend. I've already exiled Alistair and spared Loghain, so I want to try and make Alistair live this time.

Now. Whenever I duel Loghain, a cutscene appears where I have to decide whether or not to kill him. When this happens, I get Alistair to do it, and he kills Loghain gladly. However, this makes marriage with Anora for WHATEVER reason, unavailable. Why? It asks for a persuasion check to re-convince her to marry me, and I NEVER pass it. In fact, I don't think passing it is an option. Why? I once had a rogue human noble with persuasion fully upgraded and his cunning, which affects persuasion, around 40 points. Still didn't work.

So, I tried to work around it. This time, I got Alistair to duel Loghain instead of me. Now, when this happens, Alistair ALWAYS automatically kills Loghain, no matter what, but he does it himself instead of me.

So far, this is a working solution. I get to choose to marry Anora without having to go through a persuasion check, Alistair lives as a Warden, and I'm happy.

Except, that doesn't happen. Instead, when I end the game, it says Anora rules alone and that I'm just a chancellor. And then, something even worse happens with the game's flags. When I try to import the game into Awakening, another campaign in DA:O, or Witch hunt, the flags mess up and instead the game says that Alistair rules alone. I stay a Warden and Anora is sent to prison.

So, my question and request to you, MKO, is:

Please tell me what I did wrong if you know, please explain how to do this correctly so I get my desired outcome. I've done every outcome but this one, and I'm tired of exiling Alistair because it has to be possibly the biggest betrayal I could pull off after a full game of being his best buddy.

And if you don't know, please help me find something online that clearly explains what I have to do and how to get the flags to set up right. I know, I can do this part on my own, which I have been doing, but I think I need some help in my search.

Thank you, MKO for any help you can give.

Which version of the game? Dragon Age Wiki says there's a bug on the 360 version:

The only option for a male Human Noble Warden to rule is to either exile Alistair or let him be executed.

Are you serious? I thought I looked that that page thoroughly....

Yea, I have the 360 version. Very well. I'll live with exiling Alistair over and over I guess, knowing that it's a glitch and not a problem with how I went about getting there.

This sucks ass.

Oh well. Thanks Ninja. I did not see that on the landsmeet outcome page.
