Recently I've noticed whenever I watch a DVD on my computer the volume is generally very low. I've checked the volume in the volume control when the DVD is playing and its all the way up. This only happens when I watch a DVD on my computer... MP3's, movie files, streaming videos all sound clear as day.

I checked to see if my sound card needed an update and it said there was no updates avaliable at the time for the model I have.

Is there anything I can download to increase the volume when I watch dvd's?

The same thing happens when you play a dvd through regular tv speakers. a dvd has 5.1 channels of discreet audio and playing it through two speakers cramms all the channels into two speakers which reduces the clarity and volume of the sound. The only thing you can do is get a 5.1 speaker package for your pc or maybe go into the dvd s menu and change the sound from 5.1 to stereo.

Thanks man.

I was messing with the DVD audio settings and I got it to play louder.

When you choose the audio on the DVD menu, make sure you choose the Surround 2.0, like this it is front loaded, requiring 2 speakers mainly.
A hometheater system get you 5 speaker and a subwoofer. The sounds is crystal clear but you kinda have the impression that during a movie where they only talk, it might sound a little lower but when the explosions comes in,....You might want to tune down the volume or invite your neighbours! grin
