I was just wondering, we're trying to watch a DVD on my PS2...it says the level had to be changed to parental level 8, and asks for the code, does anyone know where I can find the code? or does anyone here happen to know it or remember it?

go to the parental controls area where it asks you for your password by booting up the system with no cd/dvd in it, and going to 'parental controls'. then push "select" on the controller and enter 7444 as the code.

After you put in the code, TURN THAT LOCK OFF! It is a very annoying aspect of the PS2. You can change it in the Menu that pops up when you hit select. It is found under the Setup icon, scroll down to Parental Control (Where you'll have to input the code again), go to Level and set that to off. You will never be bugged for the code again.

Here's another PS2 DVD tip. To get the best audio out of the PS2 (If you don't have suround sound of course). Once agin in Setup, then go to Audio set up. Click on Audio Digital Out to Off(trust me), then hit left and go down to where it says DVD volume. You can now make it louder. Click on DVD volume and raise it to +2. You will see that the DVD volume is reasonable louder and more crisp. Once again only do this if you DON'T have a suround sound system, because it was put there for people who simply listen through the tv's built in speakers.

Personally, I'm a DVD nut so I went out and got myself a DVD player. The sound is naturally better on a DVD player, and it is rumored that playing DVDs frequently on a PS2 may be one of the reasons for the now infamous "Disk Read Error". Like I said I got a DVD player because I have a huge DVD collection, and these days the cheapest DVD player runs anywhere from $15 to $30 bucks, so if you plan on watching a lot of DVDs in the future, it might be wise to invest in one.

I'm also a DVD-"nut", i would never in my whole life play dvd's on a playstation. I found out that they suck, sound and video wise. It's ok to do if you don't mind bad sound and video.

But i want the best, and my best is not playing dvd's on playstation or xbox.
