"After years of discussions, Electronic Arts and Microsoft are putting the final touches on a partnership enabling four of EA's sports titles, and possibly three non-sports games, to go online with Xbox Live this fall, IGN learned today. The Redwood City, Ca.-based publisher will announce its strategy at the annual Electronic Entertainment Exposition this May, but it may reveal plans earlier to investors this April 29, during its upcoming fiscal announcement."
"Madden NFL 2005, NCAA College Football, NASCAR Thunder 2005, and NBA Live comprise the sports package for Xbox Live this fall. The non-sports games are less concrete, but as IGN has learned from several sources close to the company, Battlefield: Modern Combat, EA's new Goldeneye game, and perhaps Burnout 3 are first in line for Xbox online compatibility."
about damn time.

Wow...looks like THAT PS2-exclusive deal didn't last long
In a way, I don't think Xbox needs the EA titles on Live. They have solid ESPN (2K) games, and the XSN titles have potential.
On the other hand, like M4C said in another thread (with different words, of course), it's all about the bejamins, and this deal will certainly increase Xbox sales.

Hooray! Not that I'm crazy about Madden, but since Microsoft seems to be pulling the plug on their sports series (at least temporarily, not that those games were very good anyway) and Sega's games are buggier than beehives, this is a welcome announcement.
If XSN was integrated into EA's games, XBL would enjoy wild success...

Congrats to all u Xboxers for now being able to play the big boy sports games online :) jk
I have yet to have fun like Goldeneye for N64, and Nightfire wasn't that great, but me and my friends still get it going in Nightfire all the time. We were just playing last night, I was using the toy helicopter to mess stuff up :)

my main problem with nightifre was the lack of online play and the repetitive and over-used FPS engine. i really hope goldeneye changes this. because if not i dont think ill be purchasing this one.

I'm not really impressed with EA's sports games going online on Xbox. The main reason EA didn't want there sports games on Xbox Live in the first place was becasue EA wanted Microsoft pull support and keep them offline within 6 months of the following title being release, essentially foricng games to buy up to the new versions each year. Also although I'm sure people will love it, but PS2 has the majority of the market for these games, and most gamers preffer playing them on PS2 so I don't think theres going to be a big jump in people going online to play EA sports games on xbox. Also after playing Madden 2004 for PS2 I preffer the ESPN sports games anyway. As for the non sports games that pretty nice, I'm almost definete it is Battlfield since it was sceduled to come out for the system. Also EA recently announced that Need for Speed Underground 2 will be released this comming fall so maybe that will be the other online game. I certainly hope so cause I loved the first one, adn the only disapointing thing about it on xbox was no online play.
