Now something like this may be in place in other states, I really don't know. But in my state they are thinking of a law that would prohibit people using food stamps to buy junk food or drinks- no pop, no candy, no chips, no unhealthy junk! OK this is just fucked up to me! Some of you may know I come from a humble background, so I am a little biased but this is just oppressive. I mean who judges what food is junk? And when you got a young kid and every once and a while he wants a candy bar you should be able to buy him one. Eww, just ranting...

Well, it would prevent people from spending the government's money on stuff they don't need, but some food that could be considered junk is also cheaper than non-junk food and could keep people alive longer.

eh that's bullshit. if they do that, they should send everyone on Welfare in your state a box of snickers and cheesey poofs every month.

Who is on Welfare? Mostly people with kids. What do kids like? candy and bad shit.

This is stupid and I hope it doesn't pass BAV.

ps - Welfare - good or bad is another topic all together, so don't take any of what I said as my opinion on the situation. I just think kids should get candy, especially kids who don't have much as it is.

Well this is a good and bad thing. It's good because it can help fight against obesity, but the bad thing is that people should be able to buy the foods that they like.

I know what your saying about obesity but you can't do it by class. What's good for one group is good for all. You could not pull that in a wealthy community (which often have many in shape ppl).

The United States is becoming a little communistic in my opinion. If people want to buy candy with tax payer money they should have the right to.

I'm not saying that most obese people are poor low class people, I was just saying it would be good because it would help fight against obesity. I know every class is one in the same.
