Forum Rules and Guidelines Refresher
Because apparently it's been forgotten:
- To prevent flooding and abuse of the forums, you are limited to creating five active threads per forum. This means that any thread active within the last 24 hours or a thread that is still on the first page of that forum after this period counts towards that total. Users found creating excessive amounts of topics will be warned and possibly banned.
- Posting spoilers to recently released material is considered the height of bad manners and will not be tolerated. Be sure to place potential spoilers between spoiler tags, like so: Spoiler goes here. Forum topics should never contain spoilers.
- When posting, make an effort to check that another user has not already create a forum addressing your topic. If you are intending to post multiple times about a similar subject, please consider creating a single threat to accomodate this common topic.

I don't know what would reasonably lead anyone to think these guidelines have been forgotten. There are still systems in place to limit spamming. There are still expectations of social consideration that include avoiding repeating topics, or explicitly spoiling popular and current entertainment material without due warning. We still strongly encourage users to seek out existing threads where available.
What I'm observing at the present from some users is gross ignorance, intolerance and arrogance. A lack of the social consideration for other users that is at the heart of the guidelines posted in the original topic starter.
In this case, the interests of one user are being singled out.
They may not be interests commonly shared by other users, but that makes them in no way less valid. If a forum user is not interested in engaging a topic on any productive level, it is their obligation to avoid it -- not the person who is beginning and/or sharing the conversation. If you are interested - terrific!
As noted in the guidelines, forum moderators may warn a user who does not exercise expected consideration. Bans may also be issued at moderator discretion based on the severity of the case, or the rule applicable.
The subtlety and direction of some rules has changed over the past couple of years, but long term users should still be expected to know not to behave like reprehensible jackasses. A certain amount of conversational flow is respected, and criticism of other users within reason is acceptable, but there is never a reason to completely derail a subject because you aren't interested, or question the merit of it. If this is your course of action it is you who is firmly in the wrong.
Time and administrative discretion, as well as efforts to allow the free flow of dedicated subject topics, may allow a few repeats to slip through the cracks. We now have tools to better moderate and consolidate these topics without denying the on-going conversation. Users should still be strongly urged to do their part -- particularly as they become familiar with the forums -- but a hard line ruling won't always be necessary. [Deliberate disregard, a notable exception.]
In the case at the heart of the matter, we have been lenient and/or allowed a couple of dedicated items to slip through the cracks, but there has also been a noted improvement and a consolidation of persistent interest. Resurrecting and deliberately contributing to the stacking of these past topics, one after the other, is in no way an effective method of communication, nor reasonable within any guidelines. It far outweighs any indiscretion a disinterested party may perceive.
If a user is aware of an issue, they should communicate it to admin with as much detail as possible and accept an informed decision.
Bottom line: If you're interested in a subject, pursue it with sincerity and with the expectation of consideration that you should afford any other user. Broad horizons and active interests are a good thing.
Accept that not every user will take a mutual interest, and that your subject may not be immediately supported. That is okay. It is still there for future use by others who are interested, and yourself. We are unlikely to ban you for having lawful niche interests. That would be unreasonable.

I would like it if this forum had a rep feature and a search function. This is the only forum that uses the layout it uses. Other forums all use a common layout.

Basically, if a user does something wrong consistently and you speak up about it before a mod gets around to it, you're the bad guy.

Speaking up about a problem by contacting a mod: good.
Compounding a problem and/or derailing topics with confused name calling: bad. Don't do it.
A very big pet peeve of mine is a person's denial of inaction.
The issue existed for quite some time, and there has been no mentioning of it from any mod until this thread was made. And yet, the issue has not been acknowledged and still exists.
Either fix the issue or don't bother commenting on it.
