What's so bad about it? For you, I mean.

I've just always seen it as just another day. To me it shouldn't be a holiday. If we appreciated everyday like we should we wouldn't have to have one day where we remember what we are thankful for. As for the whole turkey thing... Meh I'd rather have ham.

I understand what you are saying, but I disagree and personally enjoy any day that specifically reminds us to be thankful and to spend time with our friends and families. I don't think that removing Thanksgiving from being a holiday is the solution if you want every day to be celebrated like today. I think the solution would actually be to have more Thanksgivings throughout the year.

Don't get me wrong family time is good. But we shouldn't need just holidays to remind us about our families. We should spend as much time as we can with them instead of just seeing them on the holidays.
Yay! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
p.s. every holiday has a dark side, we can acknowledge history and our dark past certainly, we all should do that.
In modern news, I heard this group of Jains in my state held a prayer service for the Turkeys being eaten today (Jains practice vegetarianism, pacifism etc) and I thought to myself, "wow that's admirable, wish I could be a vegetarian and their respect for all life was interesting as well".
I just thought that was an interesting relgious thing to do, many often pray for themselves or for their own, but not usually if ever for animals, pretty cool I though.
