Has dating changed that much?

After chatting with my dad for a little while about baseball, weather, and other things, he randomly asked me why I didn't have a girlfriend. I could only answer with "I don't know" It got me thinking a little and I realize I haven't been on a single date in 3 years. I feel like things have changed in that time. I never seem to meet anyone that's single, or if they are, something is just off and they set off red flags to me that scream avoid her. I used to have an easier time hitting it off with ladies, but unfortunately I've had a civil break up. I've had 3 girlfriends, the first one I ever had I almost married but she ended up cheating on me and I ended up taking her to court with her to settle a few matters, The second girl I was with literally dumped after her birthday, to be with someone else. So she waited for a gift first, clever. The third girl I tried dating, ended up taking my credit card to go on a spending spree with another guy. So needless to say that ended up being another bad breakup and a legal matter. After that I fell into very bad depression with bad self esteem issues. I felt unlovable, then after some counseling and anti-depression meds, and religion, I felt good enough to open myself up again, but it feels like everything is different. I've tried online, my friend introduced me to people, the gym, all over. I'm tired of watching all my friends have deep relationships, and I'm at the point where I'm uncomfortable going out with them and their lady friends. I guess I'm just wondering what the hell happened? On the plus side, I like myself and as the years go by, I grow accustomed to being alone 24/7 and it bugs me less and less. Any thoughts? Hey man, if you're happy there's no need to change anything.
So what if you haven't dated in years. If you're comfortable then why bother.
It's not like you have to have somebody in your life which you're attracted to.
That or either the bad relationships you've had, have affected your desire for a partner.
Seen it happen to a number of people.
Good luck mate.

Dating is stupid, in my most honest opinion.
I believe if love is meant it will come to you. To go searching for it is nothing more than a clear sign of desperation.
Obviously, I feel there is nothing wrong with not dating in three years. However, if you shall ever feel it is time for love, then all you must do is open your heart to others. Yeah, your heart will get crushed from time to time, but that's life.

Both very valid! Thanks guys. Great words of wisdom and encouragment
Three rather similar occasions. Could it be, that the rest two took (sort of) an example of the first woman after you told them about her, mourning? I suppose you should forget your past negative relationships and don't even tell of these things to your future partner. In lieu of going to that again, you could tell about your sorrows to a friend for instance.

my case is worse...i had my first gf when i was 19 and was single for 8 years...now engaged...but my advice to you is take things easy...try going to diferent places, make new friends or just be happy single, you will eventually find your soulmate, maybe you even know her! good luck.
Loves comes to you, you don't look for it.
To me, to be in love is one of the best things that can ever happen to you. It changes you completely. If the feeling is mutual is even better! Everyone falls in love eventually some faster than others, some sooner than later. It eventually comes though, and it comes when you least expect it.
