I have just gotten a few bids from some frats here in my college. I'm only a freshman and I don't really know what to expect with classes and with a frat. Has anyone here been in or is currently in a college frat? I would really appreciate advice on this because I'm so confused on what I should do.

I'm with Dante on this one. Frats are overrated. I've seen freshmen on campus during initiation and sometimes it's really sad. I'm going on my second year at NJCU in a few weeks and I don't ever plan on joining a frat at all throughout my tenure there. Unless you are really good friends already with the people in the frat, don't bother.

Same here, actually, regarding opinion of frats, intention (or lack thereof) to join one, going on second year of college, and shit, even same state (different college though: William Paterson in Wayne, NJ).

Joining a frat seems like a waste of time, and an ivitation to peer pressure. Also doesn't seem like the best way to make friends. Do you really want to be friends with people who require initiation or hazing?
