From Gamespot:

Midway Games today announced that it has agreed to sell 11,350,000 shares of its common stock in order to raise proceeds of approximately $82.3 million, before placement fees and expenses. The net proceeds, which are expected to total around $78.4 million, will be used by Midway for working capital, research and development, marketing and distribution efforts, and for acquisitions and strategic alliances should the opportunities arise."

What this means is that for a mere $78.4 million dollars, you will not only be the proud owner of a large-part of Midway; but you will also hold heavy influence on the business decisions of Midway Games. This translates as having significant impact on what products are sold, and how those products are brought into being. You want to see Smoke in MK7? How about Rain? Even Stryker? Make Team MK put them there... or tell them (in the words of The Donald), "You're Fired!"

midway's stock was the highest it's been in a long while. it was up to $9.49. i was thinking about buying some stock when it was down at around $4. but ever since i heard this news, their stock has been crashing. it's now at $7.25.
