Recently, I watched the original Highlander this week and was wondering if there were any fans of the franchise here and their opinions of it. Also, there was news that Ryan Reynolds would star as Connor in the remake supposedly coming out.
I like both the original movie and the TV series. I treat them as different universes in the Highlander story. Connor and Duncan are both good characters in their own way.
Ironically, Christopher Lambert who played Connor played Rayden in the first Mortal Kombat movie and Clancy Brown who played the Kurgan voiced Rayden in Mortal Kombat Defenders of the Realm.
Has anyone seen the anime Highlander: The Search for Vengenace? It was better than any of the sequels mostly because they went back to basics: Immortals can only die by decapitation, take the head receive their power and other rules like no fighting on holy ground.
Any fans on this board? What do you think of the remake?

There should have only been one..The sequels were poor.
I never watched the T.V show, There was actually a highlander game planned for 2008/9 I believe but it was canned for reasons unknown to me.

Love the first movie. Sequels just made me sad.
I like how the people who own this property were so broke the last one was a Sci-Fi channel TV movie but suddenly they have enough money to cast Ryan Reynolds.
The remake's gonna suck anyway though, I read a script review that says the plot's mostly the same as the original but it ends with Ramirez mysteriously coming back to life, which was the same sort of dumb shit they did in the second and third movie, and was the whole reason sequels were a bad idea. You can't set up this whole "there can be only one" thing, have him flat-out win at the end, and then go "Oh wait, some more stuff needs to happen for contrived reasons so he has more people to fight even though he just won the prize!"
If you want to make more Highlander movies then he has to NOT be the last immortal left standing at the end of the first one, you have to build it up like The Gathering has only just begun and there's way more immortals yet to fight. Like the TV show did.
Also, they should've cast Thomas Jane. Dude looks exactly like a young Christopher Lambert.

i really like Highlander 2. Sean Connery in that film is the epitome of smooth. And the visual fx for a film at that time are actually pretty spectacular.

I thought the first movie was pretty good. But the second one is probably one of the worst follow ups to a movie in history. I mean how badly could they screw up the mythology so badly over the course of a single film?
