No official word just yet, but this is a bummer. Here is a Gameinformer article with the first news about it. I guess there goes all the cool wrestling games.....

I didn't see it coming, but it isn't surprising either. I can't think of a single stellar game they made in the past few years. I'm just surprised they went under before 989 Studios.

Cool wrestling games? Are you on crack? Every Wrestling fan knows THQ made all the good wrestling games, Acclaim's games were lame! Only good ones were WWF War Zone and Attitude back on the N64.
BTW, ign.com has a full news article with more details.

Well, yeah WWF Wrestlemania on NES was the shizzle! Andre the Giant, Bam Bam Bigelow, Honky Tonk Man, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and
Ted DiBiase are the real legends of wrestling to me brother....
Sorry i have no idea what i'm talking about when it comes to current wrestling or it's games. Hell, recently Sub-ZeroMasta said he was watching wrestling and i asked him if he was watchign WCW, LOL!

I heard that they were on the verge of bankrupcy back when Showdown: Legens of wrestling was released. They put a lot of emphasis on that game, it was either going to make or break them. They have not had a big hit since the WWF games on the PSone and N64.
And S:LOW was the biggest peice of glitched crap I have seen in years, so I'm not suprised at all.

You know, my little brother has a copy of that exact Game Informer magazine, and I read that same article. Acclaim used to be one of my favorite game companies, and now they're going down. However, one thing that pisses me off about this is that Acclaim brought this on themselves. Anyone remember those MLB games Acclaim made? Well, they lost their MLB license because of late payment of royalties. That's kinda like paying your bills late. Those MLB games Acclaim made were big hits, so there's really no excuse for them to pay royalties late.
