I'm uncertain how many Mb's my video card runs at (wanting to know... so I can tweak with Doom 3). Heres all my laptop specs:

-AMD Athlon 64 processor 3000+
-797 MHz (why is this so low? Sometimes its a gig higher...)
-512 Mb of Ram
-Nvidia Geforce4 420 Go 32m

I'm aware I have a crappy graphics card... but can you tell what it runs at just by looking at my specs? Thanks in advance!

if you want to check how much ram your vid card has do the following,

1. right click on your desk top and choose properties

2. click on the settings tab and then on the advanced button

3. click on the Adapter tab and this will tell you the vid card installed and how much Ram it has this is the Memory size.

anyway your not going to get doom 3 working with the vid card you are using, the geforce 4 420 doesn't support the features that is required and it's also not directX 9 compatible it's not even directX 8 compatible, 64mb is the bare minimum that doom 3 will work with anything less and you have no chance. you really need to upgrade the vid card if you want to play doom 3, the rest of the spec is ok.

wait... now I'm really confused... because Doom 3 does work on my laptop. Its on low settings (runs around 17 fps)... but its still playable. I checked and it did say "memory size: 32Mb" for my card. So am I just lucky? Or do I have a different card?

Doom3 will run on 32mb, but not well.

Lowest system requirement in the videocard department is 64mb.

With some tweaking I bet you could get it to run at 16mb.

are there any good tweaks for 32mb cards??? For doom 3? And how much do the cheapest 64 mb and 128 mb graphic cards cost... for laptops?
