first, allow me to explain the situation.

i have roadrunner. the roadrunner is in my father's room and athing box or something splits the internet to both computers.

so the wire from the roadrunner goes into the box, then a wire goes into the box and that wire goes through a hole in the wall and goes into my computer.

so i figured that all i gotta do it run a wire from the x-box through the hole and into another slot on the box.

for some odd reason, it didn't work.

it says IP confirmed even though i'm not typing in my IP or my father's, infact my computer says error when i try to do that...but i just change the last number and it says that its ok.

the problem seems to be with the DNS, i type in the DNS, it doesn't work, i type in a modified version of the DNS, it doesn't work, i set it on auto find like the x-box suggest and it still doesn't work

any help u can give will be appreciated

thanks in advance

It sounds like you have a a router set up. You should have a modem connected to the router then it splits and goes to each computer. If you unhook one computer and run it to the xbox, turn the setting to auto, and it should automaticlly detect and configure the settings on the xbox. You also might want to unhook the modem, router, and xbox while you plug everything back in, then turn it all back on. If your unplugging a model from one object(the computer in this case) and then into the xbox. It has to reconfigure the setting and the xbox won't read the connection. Also sometimes it takes a few mins. to recognize the connection. Hope this helps.
