So since I have recently gotten back into my hobby of writing (I took a LONG time off. MAJOR writer's block) I've decided that maybe it's time for me to start straying from fan fiction and start writing original material. I have a couple stories up on fanfiction.net (albeit, still all WIP's) Then the thought hit me, why not a novel? I mean what better to start getting back into a hobby then also maybe make a career of it. I obviously won't be published this year, probably not even next but it's a thought and a goal I'm excited to work towards. Now this is wear I need a little input from you all (whoever reads this). I have plenty of ideas but I have no idea which direction I want to take. I specialize in teenage work. Here are my ideas:

1. A story about three boys. Best friends. I was thinking of naming it either 'The Trifecta' or 'Triple A'. I chose 'Triple A' because of the idea they all happen to have names that start with the letter "A". I believe "The Trifecta" is pretty self explanatory. Anyway...the story would most likely lie in the humor category. Just about the three boys and what they have to deal with in home life and high school.

2. At the risk of making it seem too 'Gossip Girl' (I'm a fan) I was inspired by the series. This would also be about a mixed bag of teenagers from NYC, probably about 5 or 6 of them. They'd be dealing with the pressures pushed upon them by parents and of the high society world the live in. I would like this story to be a bit more dramatic, again, I wouldn't want to be too much like Gossip Girl.

3. This is a REALLY old idea I started writing about back in sophomore year in HS in a creative writing class. I never finished it for some reason. I just remembered it as I'm typing. This story would be about 4 guys who get signed to a record label to become a pop group. This story will definitely be a drama, seeing as how the showbiz isn't all glitz and glamour and all the things we hear about famous people behind the scenes.

As a reader, which story would you be most interested in reading and why? Which of the descriptions would you say grabbed your attention the most? Your feedback is greatly appreciated! I'm excited to see what you all have to say.

Hmmm well it seems like your first and third story could almost be combined into one. Both center around groups of boys in high school and Triple A or Trifecta could easily be a boy bad name. Of course I'm just going off of your basic descriptions, I'm not sure if your story for the Triple A one would work if combined with the boy band one. But I'd just thought I'd throw the idea out there.

I'd like to see either one or three.

Number one could be cool because it could take all the awkward stuff that comes with being a young and just taking it over the top, really exaggerating it. And number three just seems like it has a lot of potential. I don't see a lot of novels about show business.

I thought a novel/story/book (literature), all rises from a central point you want to tell the reader. Some motif or ideal that you think is worthy to be written about.

I don't write, but I'd assume that's how it usually goes with great novels.

seems the general consensus is idea # 3. I agree, it is the better of the group. I have already got some subplots planned out as it was my favorite idea and the oldest. Thanks guys!

Anyone else???

go with #3.

I have the perfect idea and setting for a book I want to write. I am sure I will get down to it one of these days.

I would be interested in number 2 but there would have to be a dramatic death included to really push the story idea.

well not to give away my idea. its based in a world that is not our present day. rather, a depiction of a possible future after a potential civil war. meant to target the human mind and make it question certain morals and desensitized accepted actions of today.

Not really a groundbreaker. but something I personally would love to write.
