i'm thinking about getting the blue 3ds and was wondering what does that come with. the one i'm talking about is the standard one for 169.99. the 1st game i would buy is super street fighter 4 for the 3ds.

i need some ideas for games. i play fighters, survival horror, wrestling, sometimes shooters, skateboarding, action adventure. and some other genres but not as much as the genres i have listed.

hows the 3d feature. hows the battery life. how much memory does it have. do i have to set up an account. what features does the handheld contain. do i have to set up a profile. how do i set up the internet. hows the internet shop. how are the graphics. how are the controls. how's the easy feature.

thanks for the suggestions and the answers to my questions.

also i have never played the 3ds.

Hey well i dont own a 3ds but from my readings hes what i can tell you

games: resident evil: revelations, contra, tekkken, heroes of ruin, luigi's mansion, rayman origins, paper mario, ace combat 3d, kid icarus: uprising, metal gear solid 3d snake eater, mario kart 3ds, super mario 3ds, star fox

battery: poor 3-5 hours

graphics: between DS and PSP not a huge step forward but displays are bright and clear

3d: my personal opinion its pretty strong so i have to put it at the lowest settings cause it hurts my eyes.
but according to the reading its really nice

features: mii plaza, mii maker, download play, activity log, play coins

internet/profile: im not to sure on the specifics but you create an profile and it holds all your game data (what youve played, stats etc)
Your 3ds has a single " friend code" to it so when you play online it will be easier to add friends (similar to PSN and xbox live)

the other questions im sorry i cant answer cause i dont own one like a said. i hope that helped

I just bought one. Let me answer a few questions from my experiences.

"How's the 3D feature?" -
It depends on two variables: 1) who makes the game, and 2) how much 3D you want. The 3D comes with a slider that can adjust how much 3D you get. From what I've seen, personally, sliding it all the way up is a sure-fire way to get a headache. I keep the 3D at around half-way or lower and then everything's just fine. In fact, it's fantastic. That said, the 3D, like a 3D movie, isn't actually important. You sort of forget all about it after the initial wow-factor, though many games (SFIV, Zelda) and the AR cards use it phenomenally well. It works. It really works. But you'll have to fiddle with it to get it to your preferred settings.

"How's the battery life?" -
Again, depends on how you use it. I found that with the 3D on, it usually lasts about 5 or 6 hours. With the 3D effects off, mine lasted about 8 to 9 hours before needing a recharge. It's comparable to the PSP, though I'd give a slight advantage to the 3DS.

"How much memory does it have?" -
Mine came with a 2 gig SD card, which should be plenty for awhile, unless some massive games or demos start dropping.

"Do I have to set up an account?" -
Again, depends on what you want to do. Play games? No, you don't. Buy stuff from the Nintendo e-Store? Yeah, you might have to register so you can pay them for the digital downloads. A lot of it is optional, though.

"What features does the handheld contain?" -
Not sure what you mean. It does a lot, I guess. It plays games. It can stream movies via Netflix. It has an online store. It has a lot of online quirks like a 3D Pokedex, a spot pass area for your self-created Miis, it can auto-stream movies and music, it can take photos (including 3D ones), and it's got a lot of features not yet implemented. Many games can use "Restore Points" (quick saves), and sleep mode so you can stop playing at any time and pick up where you left off without the need for finding a save point.

"Do I have to set up a profile?" -
I think so, but it's quick and easy. It's basically like creating an Xbox avatar, and it's how you determine your online settings (such as "stealth", "open", "no online at all", etc.) You can set parental controls, decide if you want stuff streamed to the system while its hibernating, and more.

"How do I set up internet?" -
Many ways. If you have wireless internet, you can just plug that right into the system when it looks for a connection. If you don't have one, it will try and find wifi hotspots or areas that Nintendo uses for free, so if you're at an airport or coffee shop, you won't be out of luck. It's pretty good at finding a place to find servers, and 3DS also wirelessly communicate between one another, so you can fight others playing SFIV without problems, for instance.

"How's the internet shop?" -
That's hard to say. Currently, it's decent. There's not too much there. Most of it is re-releases of older games, but there are some amazing games you can and should download (such as Shantae) with the promise of many more to come. It's hardly as robust as PSN or XBL, but there are some DS and Nintendo-exclusive goodies you can use. Future releases, such as classic Zelda, Mario, Metroid, and others, are announced to be on the horizon.

"How are the graphics?" -
Again, that depends on what games you play. I've seen games on the system that look like Dreamcast games (Ocarina of Time, Steel Diver), but then I've seen PS2/Xbox-quality graphics (Street Fighter IV, Dead or Alive Dimensions), and then some are borderline 360 quality (Resident Evil: Revelations). It depends on who makes it, but I'd say it falls between PS2 and Xbox 360. It's the "middle child", I guess.

"How are the controls?" -
Pretty good, but it, again, depends on what type of game you're playing. I've found them to be perfectly functional, and the touch-screen can make playing certain games even easier than their console counterparts (Ocarina of Time, Street Fighter, etc.). That said, I wish their was a second thumb stick/nub, and the triggers on the corners give a bit of "claw hand" cramping during long stretches.

"How's the Easy feature?" -
Not sure what you mean.

For games, I'd recommend getting Street Fighter IV, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and Ghost Recon got good press too. Dead or Alive: Dimensions is pretty good too, and a 3DS is backwards compatible with all DS games, so that opens up the entire backlog of games from that system that are worth owning (GTA: Chinatown Wars, The World Ends With You, Spirit Tracks & Phantom Hourglass, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, etc.)

The 3DS is mainly gearing towards good titles later this year and next year, such as Super Mario 3D Land, Star Fox 3D (coming soon), Metal Gear Solid 3D, Kid Icarus, Resident Evil: Revelations, and the promise of more Smash Bros. and Pokemon.

Wel, I just unboxed and messed around with it for a bit and I must say, I am not impressed.

Maybe I was expecting too much from the device. The 3D is not what I thought it would be. If anything it looks like it slightly hovers over the background a bit.

I guess my thoughts are not valid since I've heard the gaming is much better.

The blasted thing didn't even come with a game.

I have one. It's decent, I guess. The eShop has the full library of DSiWare games, plus Gameboy games, and starting next year there will be NES and GBA games to. Right now the only 'must-have' retail title is Ocarina of Time, but there's a few fighting games if that tickles your fancy.

There will be a bunch of great games coming next year, like Kid Icarus: Uprising, Mario Kart, Tekken 3D, etc. At $169.99 it's not a bad buy, but I'd wait for a Vita.

That's, like, a year away.
And it will have the same anemic launch the 3DS had.
(anybody else remember how long we were led to believe
Kid Icarus was a 3DS launch title?)

I have a 3DS and I love it-
I keep the 3D on full all the time,
and the batteries last longer than the PSP, like Garlador says.

The graphics are also about PSP-level... maybe a little better,
which is impressive, given it has to run *three* images separately.

It needs MK9 (or MK Gold, as Whopper suggests),
and Dissidia: 0XIII_##B, though they need to release a PS3 version first.

My fiancee also loves to fool around with Nintendogs + Cats,
which means the thing sees even more use.

Now that it's cheaper, I highly recommend it.
Just know the best games are still a ways off...
but OOT and SSFIV are totally worth it, IMO.

OOT: Master Quest is a hefty challenge. I've beaten OOT many many times, including Master Quest on Gamecube, but the 3DS version is much more challenging. The way they reverse the entire world keeps throwing me off, and enemies doing double-damage is making me value those heart pieces more. Don't even get me started on Master Quest Boss Rush mode.

The battery life is pretty short. Games: Super Mario 3D Land, Ocarina of Time, Starfox 64 3DS, Mario Kart 7, etc.
And thank god for the price drop

How come no one has said Blazblue Contiuum Shift 2 sure the music is a bit worse than the psp verison and the moves are a bit harder to do its still fun and what was orginal DLC is now with the game hell makoto wasnt even playable in arcade mode in the frist contiuum shift and stuff get its fun (i have both versions psp an 3DS).Still you need to get this game and you made a good choice getting a 3DS and sign up at the e-shop theres some fun games there (curse of darkness, earthworm jim,the legend of zelda etc etc.).The system great you can even play DS games and the graphics are like a psp and some games even better and i havent any problems with the 3d and i have it on alot and i have bad problems. But still get contiuum shift 2.

The ONLY thing that has me considering buying a 3DS is RE: Revelations.

I was literally in the store about to buy it. And walked out.

Something tells me we will see it come to Vita, its still TBA release date. If it does jump multiplatform. I will be extremely happy.
