Straight out of Boon's mouth:

"This guy right here on the left, his name is Ermac. He was actually one of the hidden characters from Mortal Kombat 2 and 3."

The run down:

First I'd like to thank ]ombat for the excellent trippy vision video! With an effect similar to dragging a hue slider left and right, a pulsing barrage of colors jumps out at you but is forgotten after a few minutes.

All joking aside, thanks for this FRONT ROW taping of this unveiling!

  • First, there's a very brief introduction by some dude over there (Riley?) who sets up for something every Deadly Alliance player has seen. The history of MK. 5 and half minutes of the same video on DA's disk, but with 10-15 seconds about Deception.

  • Enter stage left, Ed Boon! *cheers*

  • Ed says he wanted to do something of the unexpected for the 6th installment. The main point: expansion of content making it more than just a fighting game. ROLL VIDEO!

  • Ed runs through what modes will be in the game: Fighting game, strategy board game, puzzle game, single player adventure game, and it's also online! CUT TO GAMEPLAY...

  • The first thing Ed mentions here is the 'fighting state indicators' as clues to advantages and disadvantages of the fighting mechanic...

  • Backgrounds: One of the goals was to make them as integral a part of the result of the fighting as the characters that were chosen, so you really care which background you're playing on as which character you're playing. There's transitions into different levels, weapons you can pick up, different shapes and sizes.

  • While Ed was saying the (paraphrased) above, Scorpion is fighting Baraka. It shows two of the events that were shown in the original trailor of Baraka vs Mileena. Next it goes to the "Sky Temple" demonstrating a knock off the side to the next lower level, then again to a death trap. Then, a few more knock off transitions and another death trap in the "Slaughterhouse."

  • Next, the "Netherbelly" where they show off another pretty cool transition then the hanging corpses. This gets kinda humorus to me when it shows Hotaru and Kenshi juggling one back and forth then Hotaru gets slammed into the ground!

  • Footage of the stage with a glass floor. Transitions: Uppercut, opponent crashes through floor. On the bottom level: Uppercut, opponent goes through glass celing and back through floor!

  • Collapsing Bridge: The perimeter of the circular stage crumbles off making a smaller area as the fight progresses. Knock offs possible and demonstrated.

  • Demo of "crusher" death trap.
    13:00ish
  • Konquest Adventure

  • Incorporates Rpg, adventure, and action games into MK. You work through six realms of MK, "Earthrealm, Outworld, and all that," starting off as a kid and a whole buncha stuff thats already been mentioned in the 50 interviews Ed has done in the past week and a half.

  • As you all know, Bo Rai Cho is the trainer in the learning part of Konquest, and they so kindly show all of our favorite original konquest mission... Moving left and right 5 times! grin Ahh, very good! GONG!

  • LOL! It then shows the player talking to someone, then he runs up to another character minding his own buisness and clocks him right in the face knocking him down.

  • Ed talks about the importance of time and they show the meditation state and everybody starts flying around you. It looks pretty cool and your shadow kinda spins around you and the sun moves.

    16:00ish
  • Chess Kombat

  • He explains a buncha stuff you've already read about, how you need to choose pieces and their powers, then it shows an "exchange" where the characters fight in the first arena of MKI! It looks very cool!

    17:00ish

  • Puzzle Kombat

  • Shows the game for a little bit but doesn't explain how you actually HOW you play it. Then they show a couple of the Puzzle Kombat Fatalities of which a few are remeniscent of the Death Traps.

  • Ed then talks a little bit about online play. (At this point there are two small video clips playing and it shows what looks like sub-zero's ground freeze). He mentiones the 3 modes that will be playable online, but no word of tourneys!

    19:53

  • Fatalities: "Mortal Kombat wouldn't be Mortal Kombat without fatalities."
    spoilers
  • Sindel falling from the Sky tower, splattering on the ground and her head flys by the camera.

  • Bo Rai Cho's start to his "Ricky the Dragon Steamboat" esque fatality.

  • Scorp ripping his opponents arms off then beating the crap out of them with the arms.

  • Baraka cutting the shit out of a few people.

  • Nightwolf nailing Bo in the face with his hatchet. (this got a pretty good response from the crowd)

  • Sub doing his spine rip and freezes the body, slides away, then chucks the head at the body causing it to explode! (gets an even bigger reaction)

  • And, a kock off of the crumbling level, where the loser gets run through by a huge spike and they're all twitching and grabbing their stomach and bleeding all over the place...

  • Ed then announces "So... Mortal Kombat is rated 'E' for everyone..." LOL!

  • The end

Man do i hope someone reads this, or i just wasted a bunch of my time! Oh well, enjoy.

    Play Psi-Ops!!!

    OMG. This video ROCKS!!
The best clip/presentation i've seen sofar!
Many thanks to Kombat, Konqrr and the rest of the crew who helped with it.

I was a bit sceptical at first,..but after seeing this video i'm fully convinced: this is going to be the best MK (yes including MK2) EASILY.

The best part were the stage fatalities and the response from the crowd (one guy stumbled "ooh my god" with an awe effect out of disbelieve after seeing the slaughterhouse fatality. That really sounded good wow ).
Oh and while we are on the fatality spree (SPOILER don't read this line): Sub Zero's fatality was the coolest!!! He made some circles with his hands while charging his freeze and then deep freezes his opponent. As the opponent is frozen he break of the head,.....does a ice slide backward,.....and throws the head at the frozen body shattering it to little pieces. VERY original!!
Mileena's fatality was nice too: she eats chunks out of her opponent and at the end states that it was a delicious meal as she rubs her tummy and says "yummy" tongue

The puzzle fighter game looks much more advanced then i first thought it was. They actually implemented special moves in the puzzle gameplay; very nice.
And the fatalities are advanced too wink
And the coolest thing from Konquest was the speedup in time. As you meditated you saw everyone in your area in speedmode doing their daily stuff. Very cool sight. Also Boon did state that EVERYONE from the MK universe would make their appearance (as he stated that Ermac was a hidden character in MK2 and MK3). I just pray the secret times and locations won't be known immediately at the launch of the game (like with that Fatalities & Krypt Brady Guide with MK5).
