King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters
Has anyone seen this documentary?
For those who don't know it, I'll give you a little backstory:
So in the 80s, a guy by the name of Billy Mitchell set a record of getting like 800,000 in Donkey Kong (Also has a few other records). Around in the early 2000s, a man name Steve Wiebe decides to challenge that and submits his score to Twin Galaxies. Twin Galaxies is where records are set for these kinds of games.
Throughout the doc, you see Steve successfully beating Mitchell's score by a long shot, but getting short handed every single freaking time because Mitchell would do some very shady shit that makes him come out on top. (You can obviously tell I really don't like this guy)
I'm not going to spoil anything on what happens in the outcome of this, but it's jus, you really sympathize a lot for Steve because he's traveling from state to state doing this record beating while Mitchell is just sitting on his ass talking about how some hotshot he is for doing something twenty years ago and refuses to do it again out in public. I mean, wouldn't you go out in public fighting to retain your title and proving that you are the best by showing it?
Thoughts for those who've actually seen it?

Yeah I saw this years ago when it first came out and loved it!! That Mitchell guy is like a real life Will Ferrell character. The movie is absolutely hilarious and bizarrely fascinating. Steve is the underdog of all under dogs. And its crazy how something so simple can become so insanely competitive and corrupt. For sure one of my favorite documentaries and I'd recommend it to just about everybody.
Also I'm pretty sure its on Netflix for anybody interested

Fuck man...that scene where Mitchell is wearing the American Flag tie and he's bragging to the documentary guy about breaking a record and leaving his initials:
Mitchell: "So I broke the record and left my iniitials...what do you think they were?"
*Mitchell sticks out his chest to accent his obnoxious American Flag tie*
Documentary guy: "I dunno T - I - E ?"
*Mitchell responds annoyed*
Mitchell: " No it was U - S - A!"
Ah shit....just watch it yourself:

I just hate that he has the audacity to have the "I'm better than you" attitude despite that he's too chicken to fight a guy who challenges him in this.
The scene I hate the most is when he finally arrives at this arcade and sees Steve already playing. Steve says hi. Billy watches for like five seconds with his wife with what Steve is doing and then turns to her and says,
"There's certain people I don't want to spend too much time with." Ugh. What a low blow. The guy is just an ass throughout this movie and it's just annoying that he's all talk and no show. If you're gonna act like a hot shot at least have the proof that you are, not something that you did years back and still brag. Like the White Sox. Ya got the World Series title in 2005, and still brag about it, yet that was it. (Granted we haven't won since 1908... I get it)
I'm dying to see the other documentary just to see what kind of guy he is towards Hank.

There's also another documentary, "Doctor Kong: Cutting Up the Competition," where it shows another competitor, Hank Chien beating both Billy's and Steve's records.

You might enjoy "Chasing Ghosts - Beyond the Arcade" that goes over multiple guys at Twin Galaxies. I think I watched it on Hulu.
