Know it alls (the old news)
Does anyone else find it funny or at least somewhat weird that when someones posts about something they already know about typically (from what I've seen) their first response is:
"Thats old news"
haha which translates into:
"You're stupid. For crying out loud why the hell can't you be as up to date as me. You know instead why don't you just swallow poison and save us all the suffering from your insolence."
Ya bunch of pompous asses.

This is old. We already know about this. Wrong Forum. Its already on the first page.
If you're referring to the post I made regarding the MK3 movie post, the user who posted it probably could have found out we knew had he/she posted it the proper forum, which that user should have done in the 1st place.
Once they neglect to follow the rules and don't look before they leap, it's open game in my book...
Once again, under the assumption you were referring to that specific post.

heh heh feeling a bit guilty eh?
No, I was not referring to anyone specific, I've seen that kind of attitude in every section of the message board.
I just find it ammusing that "Kommunity" is a value here but then thats how some people are treated for posting.
ShingoEX Wrote: Well, considering it was a very recent post, and "old news" was one thing I quoted from it, I'd say I had my reasons for thinking it was my post. |
Well no offense sir (I checked the profile this time
I'm really not speaking specifically, I just value people in general and when I see stuff like that I either force myself to brush it off or defend them.
Maybe compassion is a flaw on my part eh?

My thoughts on the matter can be found in THIS thread.
For those who don't hit da link, basically, what I'm saying is that I'll be a "leader" in my own way, whether it bothers the newcomers (or the newcomers' defenders) or not.
P.S. Shingo's right about every single thing. Always.

MKSecrets: I read your contribution to the other thread, and here are some interesting things that I've found.
--------------------------------------------------
The thread asks "What's with all the hate?" MY answer is that this site (the General Discussion forum, to be precise) has become my 'net "home", and I simply will not stand by when idiots (noobs or not) do something that makes my "home" an unpleasant environment. Do something that gets on my nerves (no matter who you are or what ranking or visit number you have), and it's a safe bet I will get on your case because of it.
There are those who suggest we "Give others a chance like they gave you a chance". I know I got several chances, and I paid my dues some time ago, but I've fucking had it with giving chances to those who don't act like they deserve 'em in the first place.
-------------------------------------------------
Now I understand the "home" correlation, most people tend to have a place or a group of people that they have social lives with, this messagebaord just happens to be your. But I think you fail to realize that while you consider this your "home" it is also accessible to anyone with internet and its unrealistic to expect EVERY single person who jumps on this website to know the society that dwells here. So I ask how is it logical to act like an ass to someone who does not have the knowledge (granted some on them do) on the norms of this message board. Its no different than someone treating me like crap in another country because I don't know the norms of the culture.
In addition, you're 24 years old bub, some people on here are children. I've seen as low as 12 years old on here. Would you burn them too? Do you feel it necessary to do?
Lastly, You stated you don't like to give people chances who don't act like they deserve them. We're talking about hospitality and kindness, not the death penalty. I don't understand why you think people don't deserve common curtesy?
Can you elaborate on my questions

I never said that I expect every single member who comes to this site to automatically have vast knowledge about the people who frequent here and/or how things work. I spent well over a year as merely a Guest during the Gamers.com days, due in part to the fact that I foolishly believed that you had to pay to join this site. But what did I do between the time I did a Yahoo! search for an MK site and when I finally created my first username? I got to "know" the people and what was/wasn't allowed here.
I'm not saying that everybody should spend over a year merely reading the threads, but a little time spent on exploring the site, finding out how to do things, and learning the rules is NOT that big of a request. That final comment of yours, about being treated like crap in a foreign country, it all depends on what is is that you did. For example:
A friend of mine who traveled to France recently told me that the waiters there (at least at the first few restaurants he went to, and other foreigners who he met up with later shared the same experience) HATE when people talk to them in English. He said the waiters completely ignored him until he talked to them in Spanish. Now, since it was the first 2 times and it was something he wasn't aware of, ok, I understand. But if he had gone to a third or fourth or fifth restaurant and STILL started talking to them in English (instead of learning from what happened before), I wouldn't feel bad for him. I'd ridicule him for still acting like a noob.
An even better (or worse, depending on how you look at it) example would be if my friend went to a third or fourth restaurant with somebody else, and this other person is ignored when he/she talks to the waiter in English. If my friend, having experienced it first hand himself and having SEEN it happen to someone else, STILL talked to the waiter in English too...well you know what I'd think of him.
So what does this have to do with MKO, you ask? Well I see 1 or 2 threads per day asking people how to put images in their sigs or avatars. Those who ask how to do so saw these images in other threads, meaning that they DID go inside one or more threads. So if they've gone into threads, why is it so hard to ask for them to LOOK for a thread that might answer the very question they need an answer to. Seeing one thread of these pop up doesn't bother me. What bothers me is a second one of these threads pop up and having a thread asking the very same thing a few "slots" above or below it.

Age has NOTHING to do with it. Among the oldest user I get along with here is Shingo, who's nearly 5 years older than me. In HIS eyes, I could be considered a child. But do I act like one? Unless it's to make a sarcastic remark or do a threadjack, no. I've seen idiots (of ANY age between 10-30), but I've also seen very mature members (found in the very same age range) here. So again, AGE has nothing to do with it. And yes, I do feel it's necessary if they don't learn from their mistakes. If they keep doing the same stupid things and nobody says anything to tell them that what they're doing is wrong, do you think they'll stop on their own?

What I don't like is giving somebody ANOTHER chance after they've blown the first few chances they've been given. Whether it's by Crow or TPB or Jonin or whoever, I've lost count of how many times I've read them closing a thread with "I've already told you X times..." or "I warned you in a thread and I already sent you a PM about this. Keep this up and..."
THOSE members and general fools like Siduu (though I'd like to think that he's in that first category) are the ones who don't deserve us to constantly reply to threads where they're breaking rules and/or acting like idiots with "You know, this is the 5th time you've done, asked this, but what the hey, here goes".
I hope that answered all your questions.

As far as I'm concerned when I see something that's old I'll say it is so that the thread can be closed, it can fall off the first page, and then there'll be one less pointless thread clogging the forum and sending other useful threads closer to the second page, they deserve that for being useful and informative.
As always my view is this:
Question: I've found something I've never seen before, should I make a new thread and tell everyone about it?
Answer: No, there's a certain group of people on these forums before anyone else, if you've never seen it before we will have, so stop making a new thread, find the previous thread about it which will probably be lingering around page 2-4 and read up there.
