League of Legends
Telling from my avatar, you know I play this game. Not as much as I want to, because school is about to start soon, but I thought I'd make a thread about this game.
For those who have never heard of this game, I'd recommend you try it out. It's free too!
The point of this game is that you and several other users are on a team, trying to infiltrate your opponent's "camp" and destroy what is called the "nexus."
Along the way to their camp, there are several turrets that both teams have that will try to stop you from entering their camp. You must destroy those before moving along to your opponent's camp.
You also have a group of "minions" that always will go after your opponents' camp. They stop at turrets and try to destroy them before moving along. It's greatly recommended that you stay with your minions so that when you're up against a turret, it targets them rather than you. Those turrets take a lot of health away from you.
There are three lanes to go through to get to the opposite camp. Players mostly call out what lane they'll go in before the game starts.
You have tanks, ranged, support characters. Over 90 to play as, but you have to unlock all of them. You have some unlocked at the start, and every week, a few characters will be unlocked for free for you to play as. Every Tuesday I believe, they change up who's unlocked.
I think I got most of what you need to know down. If I'm missing something, feel free to put your two cents in.

So, I play Nami, really flipping awesome and powerful if I may add. I don't have her unlocked just yet (I played as her when she was a free character to play for a week). My boyfriend said he's gonna unlock her for me since you can help your friends unlock characters for you (in case you didn't know). Although I think waiting for two weeks is kinda... weak but I understand the point behind it. Makes sense but it's still weak.
I do play as Ashe as well. I'm trying to unlock other characters, such as Elise, Morgana, Vladimir and several others.
I enjoy being on the blue side rather than the purple. It throws me way off when I play on the purple side. I'm not sure why, maybe it's just because when you're in training mode, they ALWAYS start you off on the blue side... maybe I adapted to that side way too quickly and never really thinking that I'd be on the other side in games.
So, do you play? If so, tell tell! If not and want to know more, feel free to ask. I'm up for a good story telling.

I don't really recall that. I just started playing like three weeks ago. I'm still getting used to a lot of stuff myself. But I'm a fast learner, and always doing research on stuff. I'll check into that!

Well, a few things on that.
1. Warcraft 3: ROC/TFT made the original Defense of the Ancients using Warcraft 3's world editor system. That became Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends, as well as convincing Blizzard (I think) to make an actual DotA game.
2. DotA was based off of Aeon of Strife from StarCraft.
3. I've heard about and played a tidbit of LoL, it's definitely faster paced. The difficulty isn't much higher though, and I find a lot more bm'ers in LoL as opposed to DotA.
4. It's not the hardest to learn. Important thing, have fun with it.
5. There are way too many champions in LoL. x.x
