Last time I talked to my mom on Skype, a few weeks ago, it just sounded like she had a bad cold. Her voice was a lil messed up, but apparently she was hospitalized, and her condition quickly worsened. She already recovered from a previous bout of cancer, but apparently got hit with a different type.
I had to make quick arrangments to fly home, as I didn't go with them when they moved back to B.C. When I arrived last Monday, the 12th, she had already taken another turn for the worse. I got to visit her twice, but she was unresponsive. Seemed asleep, and gasping like a fish. She died just after we left the 2nd time Monday night. We were there for a couple hours each time. It would've been nice if she'd acknowledged I came to see her. I don't know if she realized I came to visit.
This just seemed to come out of nowhere, fast. Any other time she got sick, she always recovered fine. Suprised all of us with how quick, and bad it was this time.
Spent the rest of the week visiting my aunt/uncle/cousins I haven't seen since I visited when I was a kid. I've caught a cold from my cousins' kids.
My mom, and I mostly got along, but we did have some problems. I don't wanna get into why I didn't move back with them. The important thing is that she's not suffering anymore. Everyone's been chiming in with condolances. I've tried to be polite, and not be overly annoyed by it, as I'm not exactly a people person. As far as I know, everything's been taken care of. She wanted to be creamated, I'm not sure if I'm getting any of her ashes. I'm not sure how I feel about her getting split up.
But yeah, it's been a pretty fucked up week. My coffee at the hospital overflowed in the microwave, and somebody had regular coffee grounds in an instant bottle. Not that I like instant to begin with. Caught a cold, and the airport security ransacked one of my luggage, and broke my glass chess set's board, as I was bringing some of my stuff back that they shipped out there before moving. It was only $8, but that's not the point. I've already ordered a replacement anyways. I'll be flying back out for another visit when I can. Wont be for a lil while though.

Thank you. I'm fine, I don't grieve like people.
My aunt, and everyone are grieving though. Everyone was so glad mom moved back, and got in contact with them again. They were as surprised as I was how sudden, and seriously ill she took.

Just got around to reading this. I know how tough cancer can be, my father has been fighting it for almost a decade now and he's gotten progressively worse every year since. I know it's only a matter of time before he goes because it is continuing to spread throughout his body, so I'm just enjoying what time he has left, especially now that he's become a grandfather. He loves spending time with my little one so its about the only joy he has these days in between all the treatments and doctor visits.
I hate you had to go through this experience and you may not be a people person but just know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Losing a family member, especially a parent, is never easy and I know the pain can last quite a long while, especially once the holidays hit. At least, as you said, she is no longer suffering and I hope you can find some solace in that.

I'm truly sorry to hear this, my friend. I hope you are okay.
I have been fortunate enough. It to lose anybody other than great grandparents. I'm sure my luck will run out. Cancer is a pretty scary thing. I found out that my grandfather had cancer twice now and that scares me because it's looking hereditary.
Take care of yourself and your family. Life can be a bitch but it can be great.

Yeah, it's fine Kenshi. I'm not being physically crowded. My mom had started babysitting my cousin's kids too, and they loved going to her place.
Again, gracias amigos.
