- Wes Craven, Horror Maestro, Dies at 76

Wes Craven, the famed maestro of horror known for the Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream franchises, died Sunday after a battle with brain cancer. He was 76.

Craven, whose iconic Freddy Krueger character horrified viewers for years, died at his home in Los Angeles, his family announced. Survivors include his wife, producer and former Disney Studios vice president Iya Labunka.

What a sad shock! For a lot of us, Craven was a name who was simply always a part of the landscape! It's hard to imagine him not being there. Sad news.

Such a sad day. This especially hits me hard. Scream is a franchise that I have long adored. And Nightmare is a classic, as well as Freddy, that will live on for decades to come.

He truly left his mark on the genre and in cinema and will be truly missed.

I almost shed a tear cause of this news. RIP Mr. Craven man This is the man behind Freddy, and not that recent garbage they made him into in 2010, I'm talking about the original one from hell. Surprisingly enough my favorite horror from him happens to be something not too many people know of.

Shocker

Wes Craven seemed like an amazing guy, and he reinvented the horror genre multiple times throughout his career. A life well lived.

Good show, sir.
