Hey everyone, I don't know about you, but when fall starts to creep in, the leaves start to change, football starts up and the calendar gets closer to October, I start to think about Halloween.
Now, some of you out there might be more in to the holiday than others, but for me, part of the fun of Halloween is watching movies or TV shows and playing video games that put me in the spirit.
To that end, I tend to watch Supernatural a bit, or I watch Tim Burton's version of Sleepy Hollow, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and I might pop in a game of Silent Hill.
Problem is, I've been doing this for years, so alot of the old stuff is begining to get a bit... Ya know, stale?
Does anyone else do this around Halloween? Any suggestions for movies, TV shows and/or video games that you watch / play this time of year? what are some of your favorites?

What I like to play around Halloween are the older Resident Evil games. (Ya know, the SCARY ones)
Oh and I always watch Evil Dead on Halloween. It's tradition for me.

I started a George A. Romero marathon habit three years ago when it gets to fall. Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, and Survival of the Dead. Can't go wrong with movies like these.

Movies: Friday the 13th movies (not made after 1988,) Hellraiser, Suspiria, Inferno, Phantasm, The Blob (1988,) Demons, etc.
Excellent choice.
Games: Silent Hill (1-3,) Resident Evil (original or REmake,) Clock Tower, Clock Tower 2: The Struggle Within (only for the first scenario,) Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, (Forbidden) Siren, Quake, Alone in the Dark (1992,) D (1995,) or Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.
I'm fickle.
Yuck!

Supernatural is the last thing I'd watch to get me into the spirit of Halloween, but that's just me.
Anyhoo, above all, the number one go to series for All Hallow's Eve is the Halloween film series. Let Jamie Lee Curtis be your guide.
Other awesome films include:
House of 1000 Corpses
A Nightmare on Elm St. series
Hocus Pocus
Edward Scissorhands
Saw film series
May
Hellraiser series
Resident Evil film series
Thirteen Ghosts
Dawn of the Dead
As for video games, I usually just play Pokemon Daimond/Pearl/Black/White with my ghost team.

You won't shit with fear, but I've been playing Kid Chameleon lately. You get some costumes and a little Jason Voorhees. Fun o' ween.
Great thread. I feel like there's kinda a difference between horror movies and halloween-ish movies. Like The Exorcist to me is an amazing horror film, but I'm not sure if it would 'get me in the mood' for Halloween. So for recommendations for your list:
-American Werewolf in London: Since you have Bram Stoker's Dracula on your list I figure another classic wouldn't hurt. To me this is the best 'werewolf' movie and the special effects still hold up imo. The transformation scenes are especially painful looking. It has elements of comedy, but it still had parts that made me jump
-The Frighteners: Not 100% sure on how good this one is, but I remember absolutely loving it when I first saw it. The "Grim Reaper" monster was just so fucking awesome, but the special effects might be a bit dated by current standards. Its about how Michael J. Fox see's dead people and has ghost friends who he uses to scam people until the Grim Reaper comes and starts "killing" the ghosts. Its more of a horror comedy but the action scenes are pretty fuckin cool. At the very least the movie is really entertaining in a halloweeny kinda way. EDIT: I got curious and looked it up but it has a 69% on rottentomatoes so that's not too shabby. Oh and its directed by Peter Jackson.
-Shaun of the Dead- You've probably already seen this, but if you haven't its a must. Another horror comedy.
-Cabin in the Woods- This movie is awesome. Its pretty much every horror movie all rolled up into one. Not sure if its out on dvd yet, but if you haven't seen it you should for sure check it out.
Event Horizon-This might be a little too scifi for your list since it takes place in deep space, but it still kinda has elements of supernatural stuff. Its about a ship that comes back after disappearing into a black hole for 7 years and the team of astronauts that board it and try to find out where it went and what happened to the original crew. Really gruesome and scary and a very underrated film. Has nothing to do with aliens but is more than likely the inspiration for the game Dead Space.
-I am Legend the book. I know you didn't ask for books, but this book is survival horror at its very best and is so, sooo much better than the movie. Its also pretty different from the movie so it won't feel like you've heard it all before. About the last guy on earth who has to fortify his house every single day because at night he is besieged by vampires trying to eat him. Has a different ending than the movie as well.
Notable mentions: Drag Me to Hell and Dog Soldiers are both pretty good. Drag Me to Hell is by the guy who made the Evil Dead series and Dog Soldiers is like a more recent British version of the Evil Dead series but with werewolfs instead of demons/undead stuff and is currently on youtube, its a B movie for sure but still surprisingly entertaining.
Anyway that's all i can think of for now, hope these aren't all ones you've seen before.

No one so far has mentioned the Ginger Snaps films, so i'm throwing in that suggestion - seeing as the first one is set in October and culminates with a Haloween party. Also Donnie Darko for the same reason.
This year (as KungLaodoesn'tsuck on here already knows) i'm planning on dressing up as Mileena in the flesh pits "outfit" - but only if there is a decent enough event/party to go to. Yes there will be photos. I'm very unlucky though the weather here has already chilled somewhat.

I forgot to mention that I watch 28 Days Later as well. It's my favorite zombie movie to watch, because it stands out from the others.
Any horror movie that plays on TV, I'll watch. I don't really own any of the ones I like, i.e. Carrie, Misery... But that's where Netflix comes into play.
I don't really play any video games to get me in the festive mood of Halloween, as soon as October first comes into play, I'm already set and go, counting down the days until Halloween... or the day I'm actually celebrating it since it lands on a Wednesday this year.
