I'm just wondering if any of you can tell me a bit about these old systems, cus I remember one of them (maybe both??) was really expensive, and I'm just curious why. And if you did have one or played the games - were they any good?

Neo Geo isn't old, they are still making games for it, such as King of Fighters 2003 and Samurai Shodown 5.
Uhh, I don't know where I can purchase either Neo Geo or 3DO though. I've never seen them.

Of these 2, the only one I can give you my opinion on is the 3DO:
-The console was pretty big; Xbox-ish big
-When it first came out, it was VERY expensive. I believe it cost some $700 (I remember my dad making me choose between the system and a trip to the states...I chose the 3DO)
-Some games were awesome (Fifa, Madden, Quarantine), some were awful (too many to pick out just a couple)
-I think the system had a lot of potential, and if M2 had ever seen the day of light...who knows

The Neo Geo is quite old for console/arcade hardware. It was released back in 1990 (somewhere between $500-600), and the games were/are quite expensive - it's not uncommon to see a newer Neo cartridge for around $250.
Although the hardware has been around for ages, the old Neo has just about had it. Samurai Spirits Zero Special will be the final release for the Neo Geo, and SNK will be devoting future titles to Sega's/Sammy's Atomiswave hardware.

Neo Geo was basically an arcade-for-your-home unit ... fantastic graphics for the time, lots of great foreign titles, wonderful system. Now you can get one on EBay for a couple hundred bucks (Click Here)
3DO was more of a rich fanboy's dreams come to life. This dude was rich, wanted to make a console, and he did. Featured CD-ROM format, pretty good graphics for the time, and lots of potential. However, it was also pretty expensive (I think it topped out at like $700 in the U.S.), but now you can get one for $50 on EBay (Click Here).

I have a Panasonic 3DO somewhere in my room, It doesn't work anymore though. My fav game on it was NFS, the best car racing game at it's time. The graphics were awesome too.

Neo Geo is old as shit. It's cheaper to just build or even buy a super gun that has Neo pin-outs. Then, you'll be Atomiswave ready, too.
I remember playing 3DO in the local game shops, knowing I would never be able to get one, lol. FIFA owned hard! Just to damn expensive, though.
Anyone remember the Philips CD-i, that was the shit! Dragon Lair for life!
