As much as I like Emma Stone, I just cant get hyped about this "Untold Story" Spiderman. I enjoyed the first 2 of Sam Raimi's Spiderman movies and I really don't like the idea of re-booting the series already. Who knows though, maybe it'll be decent.

The Lizard got finally a role in the Spiderman movies. There are basically two separate Spider-Man comics from what I have heard; Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man. This movie is of the latter obviously.
Will it be part of another trilogy? There has been speculation about that and there is certainly a possibility for that. The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight and The Man of Steel may receive prosperous trilogies each.

I'm personally not sure if I'll see this one. Even if it has been 5 years since Spider-Man 3, part of me feels that it's still a bit too soon to do another Spider-Man movie. However, judging from the trailer, this movie doesn't look too bad. It doesn't seem to have the kind of B-movie cheesiness that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films had even though I enjoyed the first two. Having it released this July is a bit ballsy since it'll be competing with The Dark Knight Rises, which I'm much more interested in. We'll just have to see how this movie turns out.

I stumbled upon this thread by accident, and after watching that trailer I knew I just HAD to express my feelings:

DISGUSTED

I mean no offense when I ask this, but, doesn't everything about this movie feel waaaay too "Americanized'?

Is this a common expression that you guys hear in the United Statues? Does it make sense to you?

Again, I mean no offense, I just don't know how else to explain it.

Everything about this looks like your typical "Bad American Movie": full with unnecessary (verging on truly lame), predictable, unrealistic humor, as well as stereotypical (beyond the usual) acting.

Its important that a movie makes me believe that its real (despite all the fantastic and fantasy like elements), but, this trailer only makes me roll my eyes.

In other words, it feels fake. It looks fake. And it sounds fake.

I absolutely love Emma, but, she looks so lacking and predictable here. Who the hell is she supposed to be, btw?

And whoever that spider-man actor is....yuck. He truly does bring all of those negative things I said above to life.

I knew they were rebooting, but, why? Whatever happened to the wonderful actors of the first trilogy?

No offense taken at all Queve, I can see what your talking about in the trailer, but I'll be honest after the 3rd Spiderman movie I was done with any actor associated with that sorry excuse of a film.

Amazing Spider-man is just the longest running series that starred Spider-man. There've been many co-running series with different adjectives (or none) over the decades, all contributing to the same mythos. The unrelated, independent series is Ultimate Spider-man, but really, they're using "Amazing" because it's the iconic reference that gives them an alternative to a number.

"Amazing" was a rumored title for Spider-man 2 for a long time.
A good contrast of reference, given the want of the first sequel to build on their success, and this movies attempt to continue it, whilst creating some amount of separation. Which would be nice to think of as difficult (if not impossible) just a few years after Spider-man 3, but these days, you can never be sure.

I bet it'll be a nice movie, with some interesting style and beats to add.
Without the novelty of superheroes on screen, it does seem to be getting harder and harder to maintain [my] interest in so-so movies, though.

Of COURSE it's in 3D. EVERYTHING is in 3D. That aside I do want to see this movie. It has peaked my interest.

I feel your pain Queve and trust me...a lot of American movie-goers resent this fomulaic, 2-Dimensional characterized, predictably written/structured, recipe of the Hollywood blockbuster.

An interesting history of American cinema and why our big budget mainstream movies perpetuate this stereotype can be found here by the uber-nerdy Moviebob:

Hollywood History 101 - Part 1

Hollywood History 101 - Part 2

Hollywood History 101 - Part 3

Hollywood History 101 - Supplemental

I liked the entire original trilogy. People act like the third one was some great abomination, but it all honesty, it was, except for a few lame parts, a pretty solid movie.

This movie will be the abomination. The more information that's been leaked, the worse this movie seems. Crappy CGI Lizard, awful Spidey suit, poor choice for the actor playing Spiderman, and now this trailer....... oh boy.

Reboots aren't all awful (Here's looking at you, X-men: First Class and Rise of The Planet of The Apes,) but this one, without a doubt, is going to blow. hard.

No doubt it has plenty of unattractive elements, but I feel like you at least have to give Andrew Garfield for being a fairly representative take on a Peter Parker/Spider-man of the now. It isn't John Romita and the warm and fuzzy elements Tobey Maguire brought to the character, but I don't think you could call him a bad choice. He's a bit Ditko, and a bit... whatever the last cartoon was, or thereabouts. Not quite the Ultimate version, but certainly in touch with contemporary Spider-man references.

I'd much rather the classics, and I can't speak for Garfield across the entire film (obviously), but I don't think bad casting is fair.

Looks like trash

Okay let me be fair. It looks alright? I dunno, it just feels like its way too soon to reboot Spiderman. Tobey McGuire and Kristen Dunst are still the faces of the Spider-Man films to me. Why couldn't they just make Spider-Man 4, try to fix the damage that 3 caused and moved on.

Garfield is awful. Awful, awful, awful. Awful. I love Emma Stone but I'm not sure about her being Gwen Stacy. Maybe its because it looks like she could kick Andrew's ass in real life, I dunno.

Tobey McGuire was the perfect Spider-Man in my eyes

I wouldn't say that, but I do think the first two movies were great... Hopefully Andrew Garfield does Peter Parker justice.

SPiderman 2 was the best of the trilogy thanks to Alfred Molina starring as Doc Octopus, but reality is that Tobey Maguire lacks acting skills and Kirsten Dunst looks like she's stoned 24/7.

I dont have high hopes for this movie,i'll be watching it for what it is,2 hours of popcorn CGI.

I'm boycotting this movie.

Sony screwed over Sam Raimi and everybody involved in one of the most profitable series of all time just to appeal to a younger audience.

I hope this movie bombs so hard they have to invite the original crew back to make Spider-Man 4 and give Raimi full control.

I too want Raimi back for Spider Man 4. I would rather have Raimi and Spider Man 4 than a reboot.
