After years and years of playing games like Mario kart Wii and super smash bros online, they have decided to discontinue the service. No surprise that it happens ten days before the release of Mario kart 8. Those games still have a huge online community to this day. I don't know if it's the money, but this is a nightmare for us hardcore Nintendo fans. So sad day :(

Well, it was good while it lasted. Sad news, but I guess it's time to move forward. Nintendo doesn't have a subscription service like PS+ so no reason for them to keep supporting it anymore.

Good thing I found my replacement to come here. For awhile, my WQii was the only way to surf the web.

This is not true.

Nintendo is not merely shutting down all WiFi service. It is shutting down service for Nintendo DS and Wii games. you can read the info on the official site here. You can view the entire list of affected games here.
