Studies show... that the simple serving that are suggested by the nutrition pyramid are not enough for average humans to sustain their 100% nutrition supply of vitamins... thus should supplements be less expensive so us as humans become more healthy... Do you enjoy junkfood... ever thought of a healthy alternative, And I do not mean diets and shitty fads like that in fact the so proclaimed 'Atkin's' diet can me more harmfult ahn good since the body needs carbohydrates... Will america ever rid itself of it's 55% obesity problem... discuss...

Yeah, what is it with this low carb craze all of a sudden?
Carbs are actually good for you if you're active, but it will turn into fat if you just sit around, and since people are lazy and don't feel like going outside, they feel like carbs are like..uh...poison, basically.
So that's why they're actually getting fatter. They're eating more and more fatty foods.
I liked it better when it was low-fat, now low-carb.

Ahhhhhhh... a breath of fresh air this thread is!

I'm really trying to kick my fast and junk food habit. I'm also trying to get off of sodas as well.

Since I'm training I've been eating rice with grapes as a snack alternative to junk. I'm also drinking a lot more water and lots of other fruits too.

I'm very skeptical of some of these new supplements that havw come out in recent years. They claim to have the same antioxidants of various fruits and berries, but if a doctor doesn't recommend them for their patients, then why buy them? Cause it says "Natural"? Why do you think some boxes ask that you consult your physician before using? If I want anti oxidants, then I'll go and buy some blueberries, strawberries and etc. They don't dehydrate them and put them into pill form.

These health fads are just rediculous! They say wou can eat whatever you want and you'll lose weight. Well... the problem with that is that you can have some carbs, but if your lifestyle is not that of an active person then allof that eating won't do you any good. Your matabolism has to work in order to burn calories and it works best with a proper daily workout or exercise and rest. Some of these people who subscribe to such fads aren't those who run 2 miles every morning or hit the gym for light-moderate areobics 3-5 times during the week. Some people get up, go to work, have a qiuck lunch, come home, and are usually too tired to even think about exercising. And over time that cycle can build up and eventually that stupid lil' fad diet you're on becomes a unhealthy habit.

And it's those people who have yo-yo effects from these diets who have the hardest time understanding the dynamics of maintaing an active lifestyle cause they are working everyday. A good number of those people get discouraged and say the hell with it. The thier diet suffers and those prone to diabetes develop the disease and it eventually progresses.

It's even more difficult for those over 30 because the metabolism slows down and it's harder to eat what you want and still maintain a relative figure. It's sad that society accepts this problem. Maybe in the next 5-10 years when the cases of heart disease and diabetes increase and medical stidies report on an acelerated increase of deaths due to obesity, then people may start to understand that lifestyle changes are what is needed in order for them to maintain helthy lives and prosperous futures.

And where does that start? Well the schools are a good canidate! Look at what the Regan admin did! The declared katchup a vegetable so it would meet the recomendatinos for the kids to have a balanced lunch. I mean what in the Sesame Street fuck?!

First, katchup is not a vegetable... at all! It's a derivitie product that comes directly from a vegetable, however it doesn't mean that it is a vegetable.

There's no comprehensive healthy lunch menu that students can choose as an alternative to the pizza and hamburger menu. Sure a salad here and there and just maybe when the moon is blue, Pluto and Jupiter and in planetary alignment you'll get an apple and a pear from the lunch lady.

Today I ate a McChicken Sandwich, a Double Cheeseburger, fries, coke...and tonight I'll eat more shit...cause I can!!! Xenedrine saves meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Seriously, taking a pill like the 'new' 8hr Xenedrine (I say new cause they banned the old ones) and walking and eating a little better goes a long way. I did the following:

Took 2 Xen in the am and 2 in the PM
Walked a mile or so a day
Still ate shit, but at least added more vegetables and fruits

I lost at least 80lbs in about 3 or 4 months. I am a GOD I TELL YOU!!! ;)

It's good to take a multi-vitamin (Tho mine from GNC are like fucking horse pills, the size of a large bee almost) because those pills like Xen suck up ur vitamins an shit. But now that everything is 'ephedra free' you shouldn't get the shakes and all that.

yeah gohst i've thinkin about this for awhile now.... but some things now are ridiculous like the blasphemous amounts of oranges one must eat to reach your daily 100% vitamin C requirement?? it like 10!!! daily??? You'd have to own a fucking farm to find all this produce and even then have enough migrant workers to harvest them!

On that Raegan note however... I did hear about it but I didn't think it was from him... hey all this time I had thought tomatoes were a fruit...

That may keep you skinny but it doesn't keep you healthy. Mainstream news focuses on fat kids, but there are also alarming studies which show must skinny kids are on un-healthy diets. The percentage amoung skinny people having heart attacks is drasticly higher than it was 10 years ago!

Tomatoes are fruit. Anything you think is a vegtable but has seeds, is actually a fruit. Tomatoes are, as are peppers, etc.

Here's an article I read:

"Botanically speaking, the tomato you eat is a fruit. So is a watermelon, green pepper, eggplant, cucumber, and squash. A "fruit" is any fleshy material covering a seed or seeds.

Horticulturally speaking, the tomato is a vegetable plant. The plant is an annual and nonwoody. Most fruits, from a horticulture perspective, are grown on a woody plant (apples, cherries, raspberries, oranges) with the exception of strawberries.

In 1893, the United States Supreme Court ruled the tomato was a "vegetable" and therefore subject to import taxes. The suit was brought by a consortium of growers who wanted it declared a vegetable to protect U.S. crop development and prices. Fruits, at that time, were not subjected to import taxes and foreign countries could flood the market with lower priced produce. (A hundred years really hasn't changed anything.)"

I guess Tomatoes have dual designations depending on one's interpretation.

"OK! Where's the fired fucker who could not find an apple???"

Atkins is scary. The thing with Atkins is that it essentially burns glucose before it has a chance to turn to fat. The thing is, when you burn glucose staight up you increase your PH level in your body, essentially boiling you up from the inside. People always try to make excuses relating it to lactose intolerance, "oh, i need to get rid of the glucose anyways." Fucking morons.

Look, it's very simple. You eat shit, you'll look/feel like shit. We all know what it means to eat right. Eat a lot of dark green leafy vegies, ease up on the pop intake, and drink some damn green tea. Also, get off your lazy ass and do something physical. Go lift some wieghts, or run, jump rope, something...anything. It's that fucking simple. THAT is "nutrition", not some fad diet like Atkins or LA. It's a life style. At times it is hard to live, simply because america forces so much junk into us with Micky D's, fast food in general, pop, etc.

The north, eh, I think, lol. But i'm from Washington, by seattle/vancouver.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, I can understand people flocking to em. They just want to lose weight, get in shape, and do it quickly. Well, sad to say it can't be done "safely" AND quickly.

And a person can eat a A LOT of food, and still stay in great shape. You simply need to be active enough to burn it off. The physical part is just as important to true nutrition as the eating part.
