According to market sales, has online gaming done well?

I dont see much excitment about it, it definetly is a nice feature to have, and Im sure that it is here to stay, but is it doing well enough to continue? Anyone with any expertise on the subject is very well appreciated.

Online gaming with consoles is pretty popular. It has a way to go, but will probably do so quicker.

PC online gaming is a BOOMING industry. There are so many games and so many people it is truly amazing. Everquest fans are CRAZY...the only game I play online on the PC was Jedi Knight, which was very fun and very huge. So many people playing 24/7 it was amazing. Console gaming will catch up soon I'm sure.

The only thing I find that blows with console online gaming is if you are playing someone ranked really high in a game, they will disconnect with you right before you beat them so they don't get a bad score. Someone needs to address this issue.

The "disconnect" problem could easily be solved by adding a loss to the player's stats.

Actual disconnects, such as ping-outs, service interruptions, etc., would result in a draw...

Thats what I was saying. An intentional disconnect brings down a players ratings, and increases the winners, I think.

Let's say I'm laying the smack down on you in Madden 2004. You are ranked #10 in the world (of online anyways). I am 1 minute away from beating you by 30. You quit. I don't get a win, you don't get a loss. It's pretty cheap

That is a real problem alright. Only problem is fixing it would coast millions of dollars to implment. But the benifits would probably pay for their selfs.

Online gaming has a bright future on consoles, MK:D and RE: Outbreak are some of the games that are taking advantage of the service.
