.pak files, how to open
I tried putting some mk ps2 dvds into my computer and poked around with them. I found out I can play any of the movies by downloading a special pss movie player and then just dragging the movie files onto it.
What I haven't been able to figure out is how to open the .pak files. They seem to be zip or tarball style files, i.e. I think they contain many files "pakked" together. Both Deception and Deadly Allience have .pak files that are very large and that I suspect contain the sound effects and vector graphics, etc. Does anyone know how to open these files (or know about their format) and get at their contents?
Additionally, if anyone does know how to extract the files out of the .pak files, do you also know the format the files they contain are in and what you could do with them?

You can use winrar to unpack them, I believe. Also, haven't used this utility, but try Adunpack
I believe they are pretty much a zip, just with a changed extenstion? Something like that. I remember back in the quake days when making .paks for maps and shit you would just zip, then change the extention to .pak, lol. Anywho, hope that helps.

Winzip should open them. Especially files listed as .pk0, .pk1, .pk2, ect. They're normal compressed packages.
Neither winzip nor winrar can open the mkda.pak file on the ps2 mkd disk. I was unable to find a working download of the other program you mentioned. I doubt it's a quake file. Any more suggestions? It'd be especially nice if someone had a suggestion they had actually tried and that worked ;)
