My physics teacher explained a theory to me about how the universe was created. this theory assumes that there are other dimensions. basically two brains collided and our universe was created. what do you guys think about this(DO NOT DISCUSS RELIGION) well, in any equation it is never good to have infinites. this theory imo, creates infinites. if there is a "brain" than collided w/ another brain, that means that these brains are basically universes on a much larger scale than ours. i personally think this is b/s, because how do we know there are no other universes larger than the "brain" and how do we know there are no smaller universes w/in our own? so theres the infinite. ideas? any other PHYSICS theories?

there are three basic dimensions: length and width, height or depth, and time. However according to string theory there are as many as 16 dimensions which are not as obvious to us. Now, i dont know much more than you, but i think the theory is that the brain is the combination of dimensions which we cant see. picture yourself on your monitor. you can move location and time can pass, these are the basic dimensions. but there are other dimensions which exist beyond your reach(literally the insides of the monitor). i dont know, i think its garbage, but its the popular theory today.
if you want to know more about this stuff pm me and ill send you to the good sites and i have dl a text book which my physics teacher calls the greatest physics book ever. if you read this book you will understand everything humans have learned about the universe. its like 1k pages, and i havent started but ill read it eventually.

The more and more theories we get, the farther from the truth we find ourselves. I tend to think of theories as just that, I dont pay special attention to any of them. Who's to say that all of the theories aren't intertwined, and all are correct on some scale (excluding contradictory).

okay, anybody that does care about these theories have any opinion? i do care but i dont like the brain theory at all. anyone else know of any theories?

i like string b/c it ends infinites, you can no longer divide atoms into smaller and smaller parts. but string doenst describe the beginning of the universe. do you know any theories on that?

How about The Butterfly Effect as a theory? Here's a link:

thats very interesting. i see what there saying but i dont believe something so simple can evolve into massive events like a tornado. im reading the other theories now.

That example wasn't meant to be taken literal.
Think of the staple of science fiction, the concept of going back in time. Say that the seagulls wings is that act of changing the past in some way. Now if a cause in the past is changed, then the effect of the now must also be changed, thus the tornado analogy comes into play.

i like the idea and kinda of always thought that. if we could ever time travel i would be against if b/c of this theory. but when it comes to a butterfly i dont think it could make that much of a difference. sometimes maybe on rare occasions, also i believe there is no way to prove this theory b/c there are an infinite number of variables in the real world. but thats why its called a theory.

this thread was created on the 23 and i had to bump it from page 2. also these theories if correct influence every ones lives. you would think that there are more than just how many, 3 ppl interested out of all the members here.
You should know better than to think people actually want to discuss anything interesting here...

true
edit: they would rather talk about ermac in mk1, petitions to end petitions, making petitions for mkd months before the release, etc.

AAAAAHHHHHHHAAA!
So you don't believe that even the smallest change in the past would be enough for a decernable change in the present to occur or at least to be noticed!
Huh! So how about this little experiment:
How about the next time you see a younger cousin? Then give him or her a dollar and say that it's for when they really need it. Then the next time you see your cousin, give him or her another dollar and say again that it's for when it's needed. Now keep doing that every time you see your cousin as long as you can.
Then say 5-10 years later when you see your cousin has him or her what kind of person they are. Ask your cousin what you mean to them. Ask your cousin what their motivations are, how they look at life, and how they treat others.
Then when your cousin answers, think of those many instances when you gave him or her a dollar. Now just a dollar is nothing big right? Well think of the answers that your cousin gave you and then think of the butterfly effect.
You might be interested to see how much a small 'cause' can lead to an unpredictable 'effect'.

uhhh, actually i said i do believe butterfly effect, only not on such minimal circumstances as a butterfly. now in terms of what we as humans do yeah. the time mr. jones steps outside to get a newspaper could affect the rest of my life. but a butterfly flapping its wings???? i dunno about that.

uhuh. Its hard to think that two brains made some light, many gases, weird planets, and others......
