No offense to anyone on here that does this, I too think it's a very stupid thing. I don't get the point of it and I don't think I ever will.

Yet I know two people from my high school in my graduating class that got their fame in the newspaper doing so... And yet I'm actually doing something with my life while those two characters aren't even doing anything. Funny how that works.

I don't get it either, I think it's stupid.

What I have heard though is that the term "planking" is derived from racial/slavery term. It refers to when slaves where shipped over into this country Because they where basically crammed into crawlspaces on ships to fit as many as they could on the boats, they where stacked 1 on top of each other like boards, aka "planking".

Well now that it has been exposed its just stupid, what made planking interesting is that it just sort of happened... no one said "lets do this" or anything like that. Someone did it, and then for some unknown reason ppl started doing it. It was like a tacit understanding. Thats what made it so cool... coning was forced, so not as funny.

Saw a video of a guy plankin it (Ha) on the rail of a bridge and either his friend or some dude that was near by just pushed him over and he fell in the water below. Don't worry, he swam to the shore. I thought that was hilarious.
