I've had my Rio Nitrus for about three months now and I've been quite happy with it. The software that comes with it, Rio Music Manager, is easy to use - except when it won't read the CD. Where the tracks should be listed, I instead get a message saying something to the effect of "No Audio Tracks Detected. Please Insert An Audio CD". I mean, WTF?!? This has happened once on one disc - once - then it was okay again and I was able to rip songs off it like normal. But this new CD I just bought yesterday just doesn't want to be read.
Now here's where things get wierd: I can play the disc fine on my home stereo and car CD changer. It won't play on WMP on my computer, but the tracks can be read by my CD recording software.
Here's my roundabout solution to the problem: I make a copy of the disc with my CD recorder and then see if Rio Music Manager will read the copy. It probably won't work.
Does any of this make sense to anybody? Are some CD's being manufactured with built in "protection" that prevents them from being read by MP3 rippers and such? And if that's so, then why is it that I can make a copy of the disc? If you have any comments or suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.
