games like soul calibur 2 and tekken 4 have this option...what are the advantages of it? I never used it cause they said it could damage your TV

and what's the difference between 50 Hz and 60 Hz?

thanks

Basically all progressive scan does is refreash the scree/monitor more often than normal.

There's no difference between 50Hz and 60Hz.

Progresive scan is to do with resolution not refresh rates on TV's, i think thats what X*BloodyEyes is refering to ?, it's used on rear projection tv's and some of the top end plasma Tv's, I have this mode on my Plasma TV, it provides a more clearer and sharper picture also has more defined colours as it produces more scanned lines which make up the picture than a regular TV does, you do have to make sure that the TV is compatible with gaming systems as it could lead to burning images into the screen if used for long periods.

the difference between 50hz and 60hz in gaming for pal systems is that you will get a faster full screen experience with 60hz unlike 50hz which most often has borders and runs slower,
