Did anyone else hear of this? Apparently an anti-Terrorism bill in Oregon will create a new crime that will be under the label of 'terrorism'.

What is it? Blocking a street or intersection in a public protest. And the penalty under the bill is 25 years in prison. This is crazy. I hope it does not pass, and Oregon is a fairly liberal state so I don't think it will.

I really hope John Kerry is elected, and I hope he keeps his promise of protecting civil liberties in this country. The Constitution has been under assault since 9/11. From the Justice Department memo to the White House saying torture is ok, to the Patriot Act and things like this, we need to be vigilant.

You know what I find messed up about this? It's illegal to block an intersection during rush hour, even if two traffic lights are about 500 feet away, and yet, people want to complain about "laws against blocking intersections during public protest". If you ask me, blocking an intersection should be banned, regardless! Those roads are made to keep vehicular traffic moving. Haven't public protesters ever heard of using the sidewalk?

I think the point is that it's being labeled "terrorism," and comes with the penalty of 25 years in jail.

Also, according to the link this is a pretty old story; in fact it says the bill was already killed almost a year ago.
